Okay so this whole past riding season my bikes been running like straight ****. What its doing - bike idles and revs fine, but as soon as i put it in gear and go to take off it starts spuddering which sounds like a missfire. Like a dead miss. Sounds like a machine gun. Once i get the rpms up it acts fine. But around 5-7k rpms it runs like crap... Things ive done - compression test. It was good, leak down test also came back good Things I've replaced - Ignition coils, spark plugs, air filter, fuel pump, fuel filter, adjusted valves... Guys i really need help. I just want to get a fist full of throttle.
Its a 03 gsxr 1000 with a 08 motor. No power commander or anything like that. No aftermarket stuff besides yoshi slip on. I have not messed with the injectors. All though i guess thats going to be my next step. The fi light has been on since i bought it because of the STVA unit. Which I recently fixed.
Ive had the STVA light since i got the bike. The guy i bought it from removed the upper butterflies and disconnected the actuator. It ran great the whole first year of me having it. Fixing the STVA did not fix my problem.
Lol. Real funny guys. How it wants to run all depends on how much throttle im giving. Its been doing this even with the butterflies removed. The stva is not whats causing my problem... Taking off from 0 mph. As soon as i let the clutch out it starts missing. But as i get the rpms up it kinda smooths out. But if im riding around goin 70 on the interstate or so it does it if i keep the throttle in a steady position. It i give it more thottle when it acts up it smooths out
Hmmm.. .could this possibly be a bad TPS? (Throttle Position Sensor)
Sensor on the side of the throttle body with a 3 pin connector. Check the resistance between all of the pins. I'm gonna defer you to the service manual for a better explanation of how to test the TPS....
Would be worth checking at least... I've seen them go bad on occasion...
Sounds like you have wandered into the world of FB Douchebagdom were everything is cured by "replace the stator man".
I've read it fixes running problems, flat tires and venereal disease.
You can eliminate this easy enough by putting a good, digital voltmeter on the battery, and rev to 5k rpm. You should get 14.0 - 15.5 volts.
This a good maintenance check anyway.
Those numbers say that the bike is only partially charging. First, are you using a good, digital volt meter?
If so, and the numbers are good, next do the three electrical tests on the stator. These can all be done without removing the stator or opening the engine. Do a search.
Check ohms between stator phases against manual nominal value. If OK run engine and measure AC voltage between phases should be within specs at 5000 rpms. Please do it as manual says.
