Yes, I am a genius.

I wanted a way to carry a few items when I ride so I ordered this used passenger seat on Ebay for $17. There were new Chinese seats for about the same price but I wanted OEM to be sure it would work.
It had some damage but it didn't matter.

I also ordered this little weather proof box for $14.
It's fine but I may get a bigger one.

I take it you will be mounting the box to the seat...not a bad idea at all!! sometimes I really don't want to ride with a backpack.

While I was trying to make this thread, which takes forever with photobucket, the site changed my password and when I didn't enter it correctly I was escorted out for a while.
Here is the seat stripped down. I thought the foam would be glued on but it wasn't.

Here is the finished product. I used a cheap can of spray paint and I may have to redo it, but it should work great.

I like the idea. I would probably spray they box too just so it blends in better.
I bought a magnetic tank bag that I use for similar types of stuff. works great.

I'd say spin it 90 degrees, move it back a few inches so it not hitting your back, maybe even pad the bottom of the box that might hit your tail fairing and you got a win....might even see one mounted on my bike soon, I like it!!

I lug my backpack just about everywhere unless I know I'm not picking ANYTHING up. I have had all kinds of sh!t in there, sometime I even surprise myself on how much I can stuff in and actually carry, hurts like hell sometimes but it gets the job done lol.

This was my first attempt and I think it needs some fine tuning but it should work much better than a tail bag and I still have my original seat.
I'm certain I'll wind up putting a bigger black box on it.

Is that the MTM survivor?

LMK how you like it. I'm reading it's not as watertight as it looks. I'm probably gonna pick up a large one in orange.

Got a seat for $30 after shipping and ended up picking up the neon orange "large" version. It's about shoe box sized apparently.

Once you go black, you never go back....apparently

I've wanted to do this before and now maybe I will start looking into it a little more. K5-K6 backseats should be cheap by now lol

This is a great idea!! I ride 75 miles from philly to Union Nj for work and my backpack gets heavy with lunch/laptop. You think that box would fit a 15 inch laptop??

The seat is made to hold a person so I would think you could mount a suitcase to it if you wanted to.
I don't want anything too tall because it would be in the way getting on the bike.

Well the laptop would lay flat with a few items needed for work. Small notebook, water bottle, work phone, some cables and a container or two for lunch. I have the Ogio stealth back pack (medium) and barely fits that stuff. I love the idea of just mounting that case to the back. What do you plan on putting in it?

Update.

I found a stackable Stanley toolbox at Walmart and the bottom part was just what I was looking for.
It matches the bike, holds enough, and doesn't get in the way.

The sprayer came from Southern States which I retired from.
SS changed manufacturers and my manager bought out the warehouse at a greatly reduced price on the old ones.
I gave about $60 for it and it works great. Boom sprayer with a wand and 25 gal tank.
I need to be riding more too.

I was just bustin chops.

The "Countyline" name you find at TSC is branded that way for us. Its made by other well known companies. For example the sprayers (We have one just like that) are made by Fimco.

Im gonna get out for a few minutes today at least to pick up the MPG pic, I wanna change my oil and front pads as well but I have a lot of family ish going on at the moment so we will see.
