I am having problems with my headlight and can not figure out the problem, Its an 03 750. Neither my low or high beams will come on. Everything else on the bike runs just fine. I tested the fuse and I don't think that I am getting power to the fuse box. I tried tracing the wire back to the computer and I don't think that I am getting power from the computer.
Has anyone ever seen a problem like this before.PS I did check the bulbs before I started messing with the wires.
when you say you "don't think you are getting power" that is a little scary. unplug one of the plugs from the back of the head light. Turn key to "on" position. Take a test light or volt meter and test the posts in the connector and see if you have juice at the bulb (one post will be +12V and the other will be a - ground). That would be your first step
I did that and there is no power. I have traced it all the way back to the computer and I do not seem to be getting power from the computer and forward.
on my 02 gsxr inside the right fairing there is a i think 6 prong black connector make sure its connected and wires aren't smashed mine were and that's where i lost all my head light power
I have an 01 gsxr 1000 same prob... the black connector that connects the gauge/headlights to the wiring harness has issues, the wires dont seem to be sitting tight in there... ANYONE know how to fix this?? I used some contact cleaner and all that stuff but the lights go on and off when I jiggle the wires around... not sure how to go about taking a wire out of a connector... any help would be appreciated....
Hate to revive an old thread, but I'm having the same problem.
I have an 02 gsxr 600, the headlight connector is yellow ... inside, it looks like on of the metallic prongs burnt out or something, as it's blackened on both inner pieces ... but, when I jiggle the harness and squeeze the connector a certain way, the lights work.
Problem is I can't get it to stay that way ... lights will go on, then I'm guessing the jitters from riding make it shake loose and off go the lights.
Would buying another connector and splicing into the existing harness work? Or should I just replace the whole harness?
Part of me thinks, "why did this happen"? ... worried whatever I do to resolve it, it may start up again on the new fix.
If anyone knows and doesn't mind shooting me an email to whatitdonephew at gmail.com it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hey I don't have a GSXR, I have an 06 GSX600F, but I've been having issues with my headlights too.
Only I'm getting 12v to the bulbs, but the bulbs are good and they don't come on, ground is good too. *shrugs*
But one of the solutions I was offered and haven't had a non-rainy to go poking around in a while, is that the connectors in the harness are bad/not making good connection
I don't know if your harness is similar to mine, but if I look inside my connectors I can see there's a little plastic tab that holds the pin in.
I'm going to take a paperclip and lift the tab to pop each pin out.
Then clean each one and put some dielectic grease on before putting them back.
Was a sugestion from the guys on katriders.com
I was going to try to bend the other side of connector things in to make them connect a little tighter. the sides that are kinda shaped like a B
Not sure what its called..
but maybe those B shaped pieces are too loose on your connectors.
didnt get a chance to actually look inside the connectors yet.... but connectors seem to remain the same design wise anyways fitment usually changes every different body style..... good looking out imma look at it probably tomorrow... my gsxr needs some more saddle time... gettin sick of only riding the triumph...
can sum1 show a pic of the harness that goes to the headlight and front blinkers. im reading that its the yellow connector but i have the yellow and black harness on the right side. i have an 02 gsxr 600
Hi i have a 2007 gsx 600 with the same problem. But mine the orange cable from the right hand switch was broken. In the middle of the trace hide for the cover. I thought it was the switch on the start button. I use the multimeter searching for continuity wich i didnt find so i open the rubber cover and bingo find the orange thick cable broken . Then i put the 2 cables toguether and the light has come. And also the high beam indicator
