Hey guys, I'm kinda new here, been reading around for awhile but never posted. I have a question that probably has been asked before but I can't really seem to find it. I have a L2 600, sparkle black. Vortex rear sets, double bubble smoked windscreen, jardine gp1 slip on, solo seat cowl and removed rear pegs. +2 rear sprocket. And shiny rim tape lol.

I have the jardine slip on right now. Its loud. It screams lol. I've been thinking about changing my exhaust up and removing the cat and possibly putting in an mjs mid pipe as well as a different can. Now I've also removed my rear pegs which is where the stock exhaust hangs. So with the new can I want a shorty still, but for this year of gsxr there isnt much out there. I saw a video of a guy of an L1 and he had a two bros on his from an '07. So what I'm wondering has any one else put an exhaust on a L2 600 from an '07 or different year shorty can. I've read 06/07 are the best? And at first I was leaning towards the two bros but after reading up on it I don't think I want that one so I'm thinking of an akrapovic slip on for an 07 with an mjs midpipe to stock header is what I was thinking. Now obviously people are gonna say anything can be done with enough time and money. But how hard would it be to mount the 07 akra shorty can would anyone know? I've heard of people picking up the 07 header as well to go with the can, would that make it alot easier?. I'm gonna decat it, but would I also have to take out the set valve or should I as well? So if anyone has any experience with putting an 07 shorty exhaust on a 2012, what all went into it. How hard was it?

Sorry for the huge story but I've been trying to look up any info on it and it seems possible but I'm just not sure how easy it is or what all has to go into it if I'm missing something. I wanna decat it and change the jardine out for something that sounds a bit deeper and better sounding but I also want a shorty. And I'm not a huge fan of the m4. The Taylor made is nice but more than I wanna pay. I know with decatting it I should also tune it. What's everyones opinion on the best way for that? Power commander? Bazazz? Or ECU tune? I'm not sure if there is any where in the local area with a dyno so I dunno about getting it dyno'd. Any help would be appreciated!

I'll try and post pics. Not too sure how. Or if I even can as I'm on my phone.

An then my dads bike in the back ground on the other, honda vtx 1300, can't really see it. Sorry not he greatest quality cuz theyre phone pics, but it let's ya see what I'm working with :p

Welcome to the site.
Where are you from?
Love the first pic!

As far as the exhaust goes I am not sure if the K6-7 headers will fit on your bike or not. I know they will fit other years but I am not sure of which ones.
Really not even sure if the Acro shorty would fit right because the swing arms are a little different.
I have that gen and exhaust set up and it's definitely a custom type fit. As in there really isn't much wiggle room if things would be in slightly different location on your bike.

Of course your easiest option would be to settle for a slip on made for your specific year and a mid pipe.
What you want may be possible but unless someone around here knows for sure or by chance has actually effectively put together this exact setup you might be on your own as far as making it work.

I tried to upload a pic to show my slip on in proximity to my swing arm but my phone wont upload the pic for some reason...

Also, it's a better idea to do an intro in the new members section and put your tech question only here. You will get better responses on both that way.

Okay, thanks for the info man. I would love to go the easy option and get a shorty for my year but not many brands make em.

Does anyone know if the two bros shorty is louder without a cat than the Jardine gp1 is with a cat? I don't really want anything louder then the gp1. But something that sounds better overall. And I'm not a fan of the m4 for my year. To me it don't really like the look of it.
Am I missing a shorty for my year? All I can really find are The m4, the Jardine an the Taylormade.

I currently live on the west coast of British Columbia up in Canada on Vancouver Island. and that first pic was taken in the interior of the province near a place called Revelstoke. Some of the best mountain riding I have ever done. Got to ride through the Rocky mountains I believe.

Okay guys thanks for the info..

With just getting a mid pipe and then the '07 akra shorty. With enough cutting do you guys think it would be possible?

I've got cutting tools and welder too so just wondering if you guys think it would be possible ?

Also I've heard I might have to cut the plastics under the rear set to make it fit.
Has anyone ever done that an how hard would it be?
