Wanted to start up a thread showing everything that I'm doing to my bike since I purchased last year. It's a 2015 600, came with 3100 miles on it. Mostly stock except for the Akrapovic megaphone slipon, rear spools (donated to gsxr.com member), Hotbodies windscreen, Yoshimura fender eliminator, and Vortex frame sliders. This is what the bike looked like when I first purchased (this pic shows the Yoshimura werks edition muffler bracket that I put on afterwards). I'll post up a bunch of pics tonight with everything else I have done and or changed.
It was definitely loud, came with an insert to lower the db's but I took it out as soon as I got home. The sounds was pretty damn sexy though. I wish there was a set of headers that would have worked with that slipon. I purchased a hotbodies slipon to pair with the akrapovic headers I ordered. Noy as loud, almost disappointed with the new sound.
Get any baffle you like. Yosh, Akrapovik, etc....take it to a muffler shop. They can mandrel bend a piece of stainless for the short 45 and put your slip-on on.
You're not stuck with only things you can buy already made.
Just get the new slip-on first and get pipe sizes correct.
So these pics aren't the greatest and my bike is kinda dirty from a 250 mile ride this morning. But you'll get the idea.
Yoahimura Werks edition grey bar ends.
Yoshimura Works edition grey case savers. Both sides.
Black Vortex rearsets, brake light switch not installed.
Red CRG shorty levers.
Yoshimura Werks edition grey rear spools.
Yoshimura carbon fiber tank protector. I highly do not recommend this product. Very cheaply made, very disappointing conaidering who made it. It did not stick well at all and got britle. Snagged on my pants twice and snapped off on both side. I have another one I'm putting on today.
Akrapovic header with carbon fiber Hotbodies MGP slipon.
Oh yeah, also put in BMC race air filter, didn't snap a pic of it though.
So far I have done everything myself, all very easy so nothing to brag about. Comin up soon.... Bazzaz zfi unit & dyno tune. Already have the bazzaz just need time to install and take to tune. Gold OZ Piega's, 6-8 weeks before they come in. 520 chain & sprockets, waiting til wheels come in before installing. Also going to do steel braided brake lines.
Lucked out, just got a call from Moto Wheels, rims are shipping out today. Should have them on this weekend some time. Pics will be uploaded immediately!!!
Most definitely. Fortunately I have a friend who works at a shop who will be putting the tires on. He said I can watch the entire process to help me feel more comfortable about it. That's the first thing that crossed my mind when I ordered the wheels.
Good question. I searched long and hard for a true comparison that someone had done themself, came up short. Best I could find is that a stock gsxr rear wheel weighs about 17.5 lbs, and the OZ Piega rear (per their website) including sprocket carrier, axle spacers and valve stem weighs 11.95. The stock fronts weigh 13.5, and the Piega front weighs 8.2 with axle spacers and valve stem. So with that info, they are 10.8 lbs lighter. What I could not find out was if the stock weight included sprocket and rotors. Maybe someone with better google skills than I can assist. Whatever the weight difference is, they look badass!!! Haha!
I would take him up on that Dru. Great offer.
I did my first track day without knowing anything but what was on the trackday website.
So much nicer when you got a veteran to help you out.
New pic from a ride today. Haven't been on it for a while. Had to get new sprockets to switch gearing again. More pics will come soon. Going on a nice ride tomorrow.
