VIR fresh pavement!

First bikes (or cars) on the new pavement at VIR last Monday. In the rain!

It's all new and smooth for the north course except for the same area they ignored before. T7 to T11.

For some reason there were strips of sealer in T4 and T5b that were slick as snot when wet. Fortunately, the rain stopped and the track dried pretty well by the third session.

Oh man, I LOVE me some fresh pavement.... on a track it would be HEAVEN. They're paving a lot of the back roads in Baltimore county this summer. Must've gotten some project money from the state for it or something. ALL my favorite roads are getting paved. Didn't know you were so close. I'd love to get to VIR on the bike some time. Been there with the civic twice.

Not that close, 250 miles. It's one of the tracks I can get to for single day ride.

Yes, NC has also been paving lots of roads in my area starting last year. Fresh pavement is so nice.

Shiiiiiittt.... I've gone to the Dragon to ride with forum members before, VIR is CAKE. Like I said Been there twice as a driver. Little further to you I just meant didn't know you were close enough to ride VIR.

I'll make the trip one day for the bike. Maybe we can get together. Then I can drag you back to MIR for some drag LOL.

Did VIR many, many moons ago on the RC51. North Course one day and South Course the other.

Nice. I've only run the north course there. Some friends ran the south and had a great time.

I'm hoping I can run the grand course in October just to say I did it.

My buddy Ron Oyler said it was horrid! He was up there for California Superbike School. He said it had a lot of silt in it causing spin up, and T6 was rough. I can't believe they used sealer on the race lines.....what. were. They. Thinking.

This was his tire....
