We all decided that we want to do this yearly and if you haven't been out there yet, it is an outstanding time
The idea of everyone pitching in and renting a cabin for the week was thrown out there. Srad also suggested planning the trip from wed-sun and I think that'd be great. Give us time to do other things in the town besides bikes. I'd love to spend a day on the river tubes, that looked like a blast.
Add input, guys, whatcha think? :infrandom
I am down for either booking a room at the resort (which we would have to do actually pretty soon) or camping out again or the cabin, doesn't matter to me.
Official date and time:
Official kewl kid list:
Official place to hang our lids:
That's kind of what I am thinking too so we'll need the kewl kid list rather soon.
I think if everyone threw in for a cabin it would end up saving some money down the line because we would be able to cook and not have to go to a restaurant for every meal too
Shouldn't be that much being split that many ways
I would honestly prefer to get a place to stay a little bit further away from the super twisty roads just for Chevrolet Suburban on 33 inch mud tires reasons
If you think about it no matter what every time we left the resort it was about 30 to 40 minutes to wherever we were going. Plus almost every road up that way is super impressive and twisty.
Im sure my wife would prefer us in a cabin or hotel just for the cell phone service
I just recently visited asheville for the 4th of july. Is was a great time up there and I already want to go back. I don't have a bike trailer yet but it's something I have been considering. Is anyone welcome to join in your rides, or is it just for the "kewl kids". haha.
That's what I'm doing for sure, even if it's just me. I want to go thru the least amount of mountains and turns with my truck and trailer as possible next time
I mean we got 11 months to plan/save, next year I wanna stay for a little longer too
Dude we're all family together there, if ur wife wants to come with than by all means. It's just a rather advanced and overall tiring set of rides. My wife's reasoning was she didn't wanna be on the back of my bike all day or sit in a cabin alone in the woods  double glocks and I'd still feel weird leaving her too
If you guys haven't been too or stayed at Historic Topoco lodge I'd recommend it for sure. Lovely place and reasonably priced. have whole cabins as well and is right at the entrance to the gap.
The problem is they don't have brakes. My front brakes were screaming by the time I pulled into the resort and I had taken like 3 or 4 cool down stops on the way in
Ok I'm in for 2017 even if I have to sell a Kidney, just the sooner after the 1st of the year I know when we are going the better so I can put in for vacation. Where I work it's done by seniority and the group of guys I work with I'm right in the middle, then it's on a 1st come 1st serve bases.
A couple of my Florida peeps are visiting so I played hooky, we all grabbed our dual sports, and did about 200 miles of twisty roads and forest trails under sunny skies and low 70s.
Our ride was interrupted by a BBQ lunch with homemade carrot cake at the Switzerland Cafe in Little Switzerland before carving our way down the pretty fresh pavement of 226a.
Other then that, it was a pretty normal day in the mountains :devil
