I always ask myself why they do these things. Seems many get hurt in other activities, many dirtbike related.
Hope he pulls through.
I'll bet it was the driver's fault.
Im guessing he went to Italy for this race? Or was he already there and simply participated.

Misano was just this last weekend so he was still there. Not sure if I'm reading your post correctly, but he wasn't in a bicycle race or anything, just out training.

I just glanced at the article, and there were 14 other bikes?....assumed he was doing a race or something.

This really sucks. :(

He was alone, got hit very hard, and is in very bad condition w/ serious head injury. Praying he's still with us tomorrow.

Latest on Nicky is that he's in a medically induced coma with severe head injuries and requires surgery for a hematoma. And they can't operate due to swelling. It's expected that he will have permanent brain damage.

It's awful news. He has already sustained cerebral damage. It's already been stated he will never race again due to the head trauma he's received. He's in our thoughts down here in SA.

Hoping for the best. There's been a lot of sensational "news" posted in this age of "get it out there first, worry about accuracy later" so watch the reputable sources.

The reports this AM of "very little brain activity" are not promising. So sad.

This breaks my heart! The entire Hayden Family are great folks.
Ive ridden a long time ago with the flying fleas when they were riding
rs 125's.
The Hayden children were a spectacle at every track they went to.
I never talked to any of the brothers, but did get to talk with Earl Hayden frequently.
We pitted next to one another in the old days, and the whole family was always friendly.
I have always been proud of how Earl groomed and raised his sons, and how they rose to
become factory riders, and they all did it with class.
R.I.P. Nicky No one can replace you.
Please say a prayer for the family in this difficult time.

I def didnt like hearing about this.

Goes to show...you never know when and how its your time, live and enjoy your life. I wonder how many times ppl told him what he did was dangerous and would get him killed. It was a BIKE in the end.

Im prob not making any sense.

RIP Nicky. Your in good company now.

Very sad, but I bet if he could tell us he'd say he's glad he got to race and live his life to the fullest. None of us really know our end date. So sorry to lose such a great guy, but I'm glad he lived fully in the time he was with us. RIP

RIP Nicky.

One thing which I think is great, is I saw a post with his future goals when he was a child. He ticked off all his racing goals. How many of us fulfill our dreams in such a short time. And to hear how humble he was. A special guy who will be remembered by many far and wide for his achievements and great personality.
