Pop a test-lamp into that connector at the coil & crank the engine. ( Ensure the test-lamp works & is earthed )...You should be getting pulsating flashes. If not, ensure that the wire that feeds the CDI unit is connected, & all connexions are clean.
Bikes that haven't been started or running for a while develop strange earth-faults, that's usually the result of connectors corroding, causing poor continuity.
