I was about 3 miles from my house when I happened to look down at my volt gauge. It was reading 11.3 volts, I then looked down at my R/R and noticed white smoke then a nice spark between it and the frame. I then dropped the bike down to second gear and rode the bike the rest of the way home, making sure I stayed bellow 3K RPM's. After I got the bike in the garage I quickly stood a fan by it to cool it off.
The next day I tested the battery voltage and it was fine. I started the bike to test the stator and got a steady voltage of 11.4, so I'm sure it's toast. I took my R/R off and noticed a hole burnt in the back. Needless to say, if not for the Racetech digital volt gauge I would never had known to look down at my R/R.
So I'm gonna need to by a new stator and R/R which is to be expected of my bike model. I guess I can't complain considering it's the OEM set that was on the bike new when I bought it in 2006. Here's a pic of the back of the R/R
I bought it off eBay, I can't find the one I purchased but there's a few other brands I'm sure will work the same. Just be prepared to have extra wire, the one I got didn't have long enough wires.
Not on topic but I just ordered a couple Motion Pro t-handles. I almost went for one like in your pic but read some reviews about it not holding the socket well. Had any issues with yours?
One thing worth mentioning, is that if you hook your meter directly to the battery, you will need a fuse on the positive side to prevent a short from frying wires. If you hook to an already fused circuit, all is good, as the meter draws next to nothing for amps, and a short will blow the fuse on that circuit.
I guess I'm sleepy today. If you hook it directly to the battery, it's on all the time and you have a parasite drag. Better on a switched hot lead that's fused. Good morning!
Yeah...it's got 3 wires positive and negative to battery and remote wire to tap into any wire that gets power when bike is turned on. In most cases there is already a fuse there, but good looking out brutha.
Finally got around to taking my cover off to look at my stator. Test results were accurate, stator is shot. Got replacement parts on order, should be here Tuesday.
Took out stator a found what looks to be an internal crack from my low side I had a few years ago. Looks like I need a new stator cover now :damn:. I guess better to find out now than later down the road.

Check wera too, but that would most likely have rash on it. The sliders can be replaced though.
The one on my 600 is a silver color while the rest of the motor is black. Knowing how much you like to match see what they have nowadays. I think GB racing makes them too? I saw them on sportbiketrackgear.com I believe.
I took her out for a ride and my volt gauge wouldn't go above 13v. So now I think I have a bad battery, figures. I put a volt gauge on it and it read 11.9v, gonna take it up and have it tested.
Knowing you, you will get the starter cover cap too. I think that is what is under the smaller cap
