O.k. so you guys gave me your advice on oil change mileage. Now let me know what type of oil you use, and what type of use your bike sees with that oil.
WHAT???? I hope it is motorcycle oil. :headshake I get the Mobil 1 synthetic for bikes from Wallyworld when they have it. My dyno-tuner swears by Amsoil. Since I use synthetic, I change my oil and filter once a season. Regardless od mileage.
Has anyone heard about Redline oil. It's like ten $ a quart. My mechanic put this type of oil back in my 05 1k after he replaced the clutches. He said I would get about 2-3 hp out of it b/c it is slicker than suzuki oils, meaning when the cam dips in the oil it slows it down less increasing hp. Does anyone else have any background info on this type of oil?

:headscrat WTH is motorcycle oil  So they make oil JUST for motorcycles??? And to think I was putting vegtable oil in my bike :twofinger
All that Amsoil is just a waste of money  One of my friends works at Suzuki and he has the 05 gixxer 750... everytime I watch him change his oil he goes straight to walmart and gets the cheapest kind
I tried regular oil in one of my bikes once. Maybe 45 minutes into the ride, first gear went. :headshake I rode straight home and put bike oil back in!!! :infrandom BIKE oil only in my bikes!!! I know many guys who use synthetic car oil in their bikes. :headshake I will spend the extra doe for the real deal.

It's your bike, put whatever you want in to it.
I use Silkolene, full syn Race 4T. It's not true it's waste of money. I feel, like my bike is my baby and I have to take good care of her. And there is the different between oils. I would never by some regular oil in wallmart, not even that mobil 1. That mobil 1 is ok, but just OK.
Don't know about increasing hp by oil :hmmm: .
Hey, and please stop putting vegetable oil in your bike

I have heard many good things about Amsoil, I will switch to that next oil change. There are many opinions about OIL...............but if you talk to people who know their "stuff", they will all say to use bike oil in bikes and car oil in cars. There is a difference. Your engine and clutch will last longer with the correct oil.
I use golden spectro semi-snythetic. It's all I use. I broke the engine in with regular Suzuki oil then moved to golden at 900 miles. The bike shifts so much smoother. I also overfill a tad for wheelies.
"Regular" oil as in car oils are not made with wet clutches in mind. Your clutch depends on this oil to function properly and motorcycle oil has additives for the clutch. Amsoil for me too. I change it every other month on street bike regardless of mileage and on the race bike I change it after each trackday or race.
Not if you change it often enough. My street bike gets changed every 1,000-1,500 miles and my track/race bike every 50-100 miles (depends on how many races I enter)
I don't know about other synthetics cuz I've only used Amsoil...but I've got 32,000 miles on my GSXR 600, went to Amsoil after about 7k-8k and I still have my original clutch (and that's with 30+ trackdays and races). People can say what they want about synthetics but I'm a firm believer in Amsoil...and their new formula is supposed to be better.
i actually heard that the Royal Purple full synthetic lube will give you best results and Proven gains in horsepower. the less friction the more engine horsepower being driven to that back wheel. actually a guy on here posted a pretty good link to a few videos straight from horsepower tv where they dyno tested royal purple... not on a bike of course but im sure the results would be as interesting? anyone tried or heard of anyone trying that stuff?
O.K., what are your opinions on synthetic oil as far as it causing clutch slippage on a new bike? That is why I have been using Suzuki oil instead of synthetic.

Synthetic oil causing clutch slipage is complete bullshit. I have spoken to many suzuki mechanics, and they all say the same thing....99% of bikes that have clutch slipage, had the existing problem BEFORE they ever had synthetic oil in them. All the synthetic oil did was make the already existing problem more noticable.
Ask yourself this, if synthetic oil is not good for your bike, why do the Pros run it in their bikes right out of the crate?
