Dakar claims Aussie riderhighwaybruiser 01-09-2006, 10:33 PM Andy Caldecott, a very experienced desert/safari racer was killed in the Dakar rally, suffering a fatal neck injury after a high-speed fall. I didn't know the man either personally, or by reputation (not really being into the dirt-bike scene) but hearing the news today on the radio, I felt saddened by his passing. I guess having lost a few close family members over the past few years has that affect on you. Condolances to Andy's family & friends.

The country town he was from all loved him and had things up in shops about him. He was a local hero to them all there and also well known in the bike buisness. There was even Peter Brock saying something about him on a thing on tv that night. Peter is one of our legands in the v8's - touring cars here for the ones who dont know.
