Will you be attending that one? 2 of them went out last year and said the track was smooth as glass! I'm not sure yet. I will be going to their May event for the weekend. The January event was nice. I had a great time except for my crash on Sunday. Here are some photos. (www.bettyandjohn.com/pahrump)
Here's a video I put together of the crash. (http://media.putfile.com/Crash--Pahrump)
The Nov. event runs on a different section of the track. I think that section was brand new last year. So I can understand why it would be so smooth. The main section run in January & again in May does have some spots to avoid, I think because they run cars there a lot, there are a few corners you need to go wide or go near the candystripe to avoid rough pavement. Great track though & a great time. The track is nice.
I just this week finished putting my bike back together & I'm going to Buttonwillow tomorrow. Hopefully the rain holds off! gsxr69 03-11-2006, 07:43 AM that track does look smooth! grattan where we usually go i think has more asphalt patches than original asphalt!
the video was awesome up until the crash. looked like front end tucked on ya? Silver Lightning 03-11-2006, 08:39 PM the video was awesome up until the crash. looked like front end tucked on ya?
Thanks. All & all it was a fun weekend. First crash, I figured it was bound to happen eventually.
Front end tucked due to compounding mistakes. Going too fast, stuck in a last minute downshift out of habit which caused rear instability & I was probably trail braking too much when I pushed on the bars. Mael 03-11-2006, 09:43 PM HA it took me by surpise...
I saw the pics and couldn't tell which turn it was, but figured it was turn one... Simply because so many people crash out in either turn 1 or 2 at pahrump.
So i see you coming down to six figuring the next time through turn one would be the crash time, and I'm totally impressed that you're taking turn 6 so damn fast. I can usually take it on the rev limiter in 2nd on my 600 which is about 75-80ish dunno cause i don't pay attention to the speedo, but thats about 90% of my pace. If I'm really pushing the limit I can take it in 3rd but you don't scrub off enough speed and end up having to brake like a mofo... plus its scary as hell.
But to do that I gotta take a way inside line and run wide coming out of it. Its not a defensive line, but its pretty fast :)
Anyways, I see you comin into it at like 90 and i'm like NIIIIIICE. You totally looked like you had it too, probably just a bit too much input into the bike. Not to mention you came into it on the outside of another rider. I bet that scared the crap outta him :)
Glad you weren't hurt, and keep on riding bud. | |
