solidc1313 02-06-2006, 05:46 PM I found a review with all the 2006 superbikes. And guess what the gsxr was last?! WTF I have no idea. It is the lightest bike by far 23lbs to the blade 20 to the zx 16 to the r1. It is second in hp and torque to the zx only by little. It has the fastest 1/4 time, fastest brake, fast top speed, fastest top gear acceleration. The only thing they said is its not as track focused cuz the suspension isnt great. Well I say throw a ohlins shock and new springs in the forks and youll kill um all!

hundo24 02-06-2006, 05:48 PM Those reviews always cater to the new bikes, Honda, Kawa are new. Its the same with autos, each yr a new truck comes out it gets truck of the year. You have to take those reviews with a grain of salt
BallHawk3 02-06-2006, 05:58 PM wtf, i thought thats what makes the 1k so great, the handling, which everyone says it amazing.
Madgoal1 02-06-2006, 06:32 PM wtf, i thought thats what makes the 1k so great, the handling, which everyone says it amazing.
+1 it is
BallHawk3 02-06-2006, 06:34 PM maybe suzuki sent them the 06 750 to test out and lied to them? LOL, i mean isn't that maroon/purlish red color one of the colors for the 06 750?
b3rnard 02-06-2006, 06:49 PM nah, we've seen the same review come out on the 05 600 and 750, since they remained unchanged they gave em a so-so review. I guess it applies on this one too, the gixxer is a great bike not much needs to change for 06.
And btw, thanks to Suzuki's engineering partnership with Kawasaki, their bikes inherited some really good genes  all that good stuff they see on the kawi came from Suzuki LOL
Bah, magazine shoot outs are biased.
rainmaker 02-06-2006, 08:14 PM it happens every couple of years...
the gixxer is not different this year than last....people always praise the new designs....and every year is an improvement from the last...(so wait till 07)
the r1 was top not too long ago...then the new zx10 came out...then the new gixxer in 05...now it looks like it's heading back to the zx10...
tough market...
what's next??
the new r1 or gixxer in 07!!
SimmCity 02-06-2006, 08:22 PM wtf, i thought thats what makes the 1k so great, the handling, which everyone says it amazing.
+2
XPointBlakeX 02-06-2006, 08:23 PM wtf!
the gsxr was the fastest
i need to make a review :hmmm:
nevacme 02-06-2006, 09:26 PM wtf!
the gsxr was the fastest
i need to make a review :hmmm:
i definitly agree cuz some of them dont really have the balls to push the bike to the xtreme and they arent the same weight.......
Tricky Dicky 02-07-2006, 03:08 AM As several people have said, the only reason is that Suzuki is out of step on the new model year introductions. Honda and Kawasaki have new models for 06 not sure where Yamaha stand . All the litre bikes are so close even that shirt lifter Rossi could not tell which is better.
SILVERK5 02-07-2006, 05:54 AM The suzuki is the best bike for the street... As far as the track is concerned, NOBODY races stock bikes... So to tell which bike is better for the track, we'll just have to wait for the first results of AMA superbike, World Superbike and all the other championships involving literbikes... Can I make a prediction (wink wink)? ... The only one that will be (MAYBE) close to the K6 is the Ducati... nuff said.
it happens every couple of years...
The gixxer is not different this year than last....people always praise the new designs....and every year is an improvement from the last...(so wait till 07)
Where have you been? The K6 600/750 GSXR's are completely different than the K4/K5
Some of the changes... Styling, Frame, Engine, HP, Weight, Guages, Exhaust, Wheels just to name a few,
Tricky Dicky 02-07-2006, 07:38 AM I think we are talking about the recent back to back test on the litre bikes. The Suzuki came in fourth place, then Yamaha, Honda and number one was the Kawasaki, just shows how wrong the press can get it.
Those tests are just to cater to the people that want new bikes. It just a formality. I wouldn't worry about it.
BallHawk3 02-07-2006, 12:18 PM and watch, begining of AMA season, everyone will still be on a gixxer 1k.
skibum91 02-07-2006, 12:26 PM for anybody over 140 lbs, the suspension sucks. Trust me I know.
evilbologna 02-07-2006, 02:02 PM Who really gives a fuck that the gix1k was rated last? Rated last by OTHER people. They can say suzuki gsxrs are the worst bikes in the world, I dont care. It's just a magazine, its just a bunch of douchebags, its just politics, so just quit caring and ride your own ride cause you want to ride it, regardless of what others say.
SloScooter 02-09-2006, 09:01 AM I also agree mags are biased. It is all personal preference and riding style. All the bikes are so good now that it is very few things that set them apart. Who is going to race with a stock suspension anyway. The motor is unreal in the big gixxer. I used to ride an R1 for track days because it handled well with an aftermarket suspension, and then I rode the 05 Gixxer 1000, and i thought I was riding a 600 chasis with a monster 1000 motor. I went and bought one the next day, and swear by the big gixxer to this day. Suzuki made me a believer.
BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!! :linksucks
ps: Worst bits of the Gsxr1000 include 'too much comfort' ? WTF? they prob got those superbowl refs to rate the bikes
allthatflash 02-10-2006, 11:29 PM So they say the bike needs a better suspension? So if it came in 4th cuz of that Imagine what it will do with the same mods the R1 got this year Ohlins shocks and all. The Gsxr will be untouchable by thier standard. And the bitch will be comfortable as well. WTF they are talking out of there ass to put that on paper. the ZX was a powerful bike last year if I remember correctly but the Suzuki was just a better overall bike and they even said it was a good overall bike it just was not track friendly. Oh well there goes my year.
allthatflash 02-10-2006, 11:44 PM Here is link to bike testing this weekend and well I think Suzuki is going back to back again and silverK5 might be right with Ducati right behind.

Mladin Fastest After Two Days Of AMA Team Testing At California Speedway

Six-time and defending AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin came away from a two-day AMA team test at California Speedway with the fastest lap time.
After spending most of the test evaluating new parts back-to-back with 2005-spec parts, Mladin made his first set-up change to his Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 late Wednesday afternoon, just before he ripped off a lap at 1:24.448.
“I made a couple of changes and dropped down (my lap time) there at the end, but I didn’t do anything too silly,” said Mladin, whose fastest race lap at California Speedway in 2005 was a 1:24.562. “I just wanted to see what the bike was capable of, and it felt pretty good. It was a good test for us.”
The second-fastest rider at the test – and the only other rider in the 1:24 bracket – was Parts Unlimited Ducati Austin’s Ben Bostrom, who lapped the 2.36-mile infield road course in 1:24.983 on his factory 999 Superbike.
“I didn’t ride very much today,” said Bostrom. “I think the big thing was seat time on the bike. As you gain seat time, you accidentally go quicker and quicker. We only made very small changes, but it’s not the bike. Honestly, it’s the rider having to adapt to the bike.”
The test was Bostrom’s first since the Dunlop tire test at Daytona and his first ride since breaking several ribs in a snowboarding accident over the Christmas holidays. Bostrom said his ribs have healed completely.
Graves Motorsports Yamaha’s Jason DiSalvo turned the fastest Superstock lap time of the test, a 1:25.583 on his YZF-R1 LE, right before he crashed in turns 5-6. DiSalvo was uninjured in the lowside fall.
Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Michael Barnes fell earlier (without injury) in the same corner when he pushed the front of his Formula Xtreme-spec GSX-R600. Barnes said he and his team made a lot of progress over the two-day test.
This California Speedway test was the last for many of the AMA teams before heading to the 2006 season-opener at Daytona, but the Yamaha and Kawasaki factory teams have planned another two-day test next week at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

TwoBoots 02-11-2006, 06:57 PM I don't think the article is bias. Remember it's tested by a real racer. Most of the time, magazine editors and riders test bieks. Racers and regular street riders have very different point of views and requirements. Racers push the bike much harder than any mag riders would. I'm not surprised that the racer guy gave the GSXR bad marks if he thought the throttle response was not smooth because throttle response was more important to racers on the track. I still think the GSXR is probably has the best value for street riders and casual track riders.
GixxerDave 02-13-2006, 05:08 PM now i will say this who care what the paper says i go to ama dragbike races in norwalk ohio and indy every year i talk to the guys the gixxer is the fastest bike and look what is everybody racing mostly the gixxer. some sx no r1 and no cbr
renoracer 02-15-2006, 12:25 AM look at the winning bikes in about every kind of streetbike racing. suzuki wins. nhra gives harleydavidson like a 50 pound weight break or something like that to keep up with suzuki. i think magazines are influenced (financially) by manufacturers to rate their bikes higher.
renoracer 02-15-2006, 12:29 AM dang, the k6 bikes STILL need to grow on me. ugly
