you da man 02-15-2006, 08:03 AM Monday afternoon my sister and I lost our father due to complications associated with emphysema. My father was a great man, served 4 tours in Vietnam, where he met my mother, and he also received one purple heart. He later retired from the Army in the early 80's. My mother died unexpectly in 1984 at the age of 34 (I was 12). Since my mother's death my father lived the last 22 years of his life with a broken heart and wore his wedding band until his passing as a sign of his love for his wife. My father was a simple man with simple needs and loved to help others in need. My father and I knew his health was failing and fortunately for my sister and I he completed the necessary legal documents to ease the pain of his untimely death. He died on Monday but I was able to spend some time with him Sunday night sharing some ice cream and watching the Olympics. That night he felt fine and asked if I had a trackday on Monday. I told him "yes, at Motorsports Ranch". He told me to call him after trackday was done so that he knew that me and my friends didn't have any crashes. My last words to him were "I gotta go Pops, I need to get some sleep. I'll call you as soon as we're done." Gonna miss you Pops.
