I am thinking about doing the TRE mod to my 03 GSXR 600. Do you think I could get some pro's and con's please? Thanks everybody. Also which resistor should I use 15000 or 6800?

Also which resistor should I use 15000 or 6800? gixerfast 08-29-2004, 01:39 PM First of all use the 15000 resistor. Pros more power u can feel when you open up the throttle, due to your timing no longer being retarded so you get more accelaration. The cons is if you dont have one with a switch its tough on cold starts. also your revlimiter is gone. But I strongly recommend getting one. skibum91 08-30-2004, 08:38 AM yea, pretty much what ^^^^^^ said. I would do it but get the switched ones. Snakes600 08-30-2004, 11:40 AM Seeing how we lost previous discussions about this topic, here are some sites with info: http://www.maxlean.com/motorcyclepages/tre.htm

I didn't realize you loose the revlimiter. That might be a problem for me. badassgix750 08-30-2004, 02:58 PM is this mod only for fuel injected bikes? skibum91 08-30-2004, 03:13 PM yea it only works on the 00+ 750 01+ 600 & 1000. badassgix750 08-30-2004, 06:21 PM thanks ski r_meintel 08-30-2004, 07:05 PM I am also at a high altitude. Will this cause any problems? Will I have to make modifications to my PCIII? gixerfast 08-30-2004, 07:20 PM no you shouldn't skibum91 08-30-2004, 09:36 PM no it shouldn't make any changes, I'm at 5000ft and it doesn't need any special attention. rkrummel01 08-31-2004, 01:53 AM dooooooo iiiiiitttttt!!!!!!!!!!! r_meintel 09-02-2004, 05:54 PM Thanks everybody. I will be heading to Radio Shack this weekend to buy the parts that I need. bishopalstare 09-03-2004, 09:06 AM you dont lose your rev limiter!! :laughingr Not trying to be mean, but you don't lose that. I have the "Non-switchable" one on mine and I still have my rev limiter and it starts easy on 50 degree mornings here. I just push the start button once and she runs fine, no restarting. But you do "not" lose the rev limiter. Snakes600 09-03-2004, 12:16 PM I guess the rev limiter wouldn't care what gear your in. gixerfast 09-03-2004, 02:44 PM I have the switchable one and cold starts it runs kinda bad at first until it gets warm, and the reason being is because you idle is dropped like 300 rpm's or so with it on I heard that you do lose the rev limiter with it on, I dont know personally yet, cause I shift before i hit it. rkrummel01 09-03-2004, 07:14 PM this is true, you do not lose your rev. limeter  bishopalstare 09-07-2004, 08:09 AM And another thing, people say it drops your idle. Mine doesn't change from before I had it on unless I pull the clutch in, then it drops, but only while the clutch is engaged. Which is why I think I don't have a problem with cold starts. Anyways, I would get it, you won't be dissapointed. Later  GixxerG 09-08-2004, 11:49 AM is this tre mod such noticeable or just the same "any mod you make to your Bike makes it feels better".
Ride Safe................ :hammer: rkrummel01 09-08-2004, 03:42 PM If you know your bike you can def. feel the difference with it switched on or off, greater throttle response. I've also noticed that it makes roll ons alot easier, i guess the bottom line is you wan't everybit of power that the bike u paid for is capable of achieving, thus said an $8.00 mod to achieve pistons hitting top dead center "yeah, you'll feel the difference". freak_accident 09-08-2004, 06:31 PM if u want to pay $100 for one :hmmm: that has safties and doesnt mess up ur neutral map... here you go. www.motorcycleradar.com Go to the very bottom of the page. I like this unit cause i can set the map for what ever gears i want. My only complaint is that he is out of stock alot and takes a while to get back in stock. but hey, maybe -300rpm is ok with some people. rkrummel01 09-08-2004, 08:30 PM your only neg. 300 when your on the clutch...nothing one turn of the idle adj. can't fix, thats if u even use the clutch. but if you get your bike mapped with tre on it is a fixed map so your neutral map is your new map.....just my 02 :D....but i guess it's all a preference thing. IKE 09-08-2004, 09:50 PM yea it only works on the 00+ 750 01+ 600 & 1000.
the 1998-99 750's are fuel injected and lockhart-phillips sells ivan's t.r.e.? rkrummel01 09-08-2004, 11:27 PM the 1998-99 750's are fuel injected and lockhart-phillips sells ivan's t.r.e.?
fuck that, gotta be a misprint....i 99.9% they didn't make them for non-fuelinjected bike.....theres always that .01 though :headscrat GixxerG 09-09-2004, 09:54 AM when tath happens, when U pull the cluth lever. what happend when U are cuising a town in the traffic.?, is this the momento turn your TRE mod off using a switch... ?

he's right about the 98-99 750 being fuel injected. I'm not sure if they make the ivans for it, but the other brand ones I've never seen. actually I've got a lockhart book here at my desk, lemme look.
Yea, its the 98+ 750, 01+600 and 01+1000 that they make the TRE for. rkrummel01 09-09-2004, 08:47 PM that .01 can always bite u on the ass somehow....LMFAO :laughingr skibum91 09-09-2004, 09:55 PM that .01 can always bite u on the ass somehow....LMFAO :laughingr
arhhhhhhhhh, bite!!! :hammer: noobgixxer 09-14-2004, 11:21 PM Ok so I just got a gsx-r750 with a TRE switch, but I dont know which way means is ON or OFF. As of now I have no idea if its on or off either lol. YES THATS STUPID OF ME, but let a noobie know! rkrummel01 09-14-2004, 11:45 PM IF IT'S ON WHEN YOU PULL IN THE CLUTCH WITH THE BIKE REVED AT ABOUT 3000 RPM'S THE RPM'S WILL DROP BY ABOUT 300...IF IT'S OFF WHEN U PULL THE CLUTCH IN NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. AND THATS HOW YOU KNOW  bishopalstare 09-15-2004, 06:53 AM Actually if you have the bike revved up to like 3000 with the throttle advance (some call it the choke :infrandom ), then it should drop down like 1500 or so. But either way, if it's on and revved up and you pull in the clutch, it will drop. Later  audi1031 09-15-2004, 06:57 AM 98 AND 99 gsxr 750 is fuel injected skibum91 09-15-2004, 08:53 AM ARE fuel injected, yes I stated that before. | |
