I'm out here at Google Earth looking for some good twisties and noticed Highway 243 that heads South of Banning off I10 through Mt. San Jacinto State Park. This road looks killer. Has anyone done this ride? If so, how were the road conditions? I was just wondering if this would be a good detour on my way to San Diego here in a couple weeks. Thanks!

Awesome ride.. The tightest part is from banning to Idyllwild itself.. I live at the bottom of the hill in Hemet . Havent been up in a few weeks,.. There was alot of gravel from the snow but most should be all cleared by now... There's bikes rollin it every day .... If you go up & over to san diego , if you have the time take 243 , then take 74 thru garner valley past lake hemet . Then take 371 into Anza down to the 79.. The 79 you can take into Temecula or hang a left on 79 and roll our past warner springs into north san diego county ... When 79 ends you can hang a left & go into Juilan or hang a right & it'll drop you out down by the 15 above San diego still ( dont know the hwy # of that one sorry ) .. all in all a great day of twisties

Thanks n1sniper, I printed out your instructions and I'm gonna hit that stretch on my way down, I was hoping is was as good as it looks. I'll be sure to plan a few extra hours for the trip. I think that this is the same road that a guy from work took in his Suburu WRX a couple months ago and was raving about. Thanks again for the info, maybe see you out there!
