If this is your first bike, or your first year or two riding, then get the 600. you will learn the most and have less chance of doing stupid crap and killing yourself.

Get a 750 or 1000 due to your height and weight. Plus if you get the 600, 1 month down the line your going to want more power. I personally ride a 1000 and if I were you that is what I would get. It has the best of both worlds when it comes to GSXRs.

well i was thinking abt to get 1000 because my brother got CBR 1000RR soo he think i am cheap so u think GSXR will whip him or what..... i love to race but i kinda to scared to ride over 120+ mph so which is the best for me to beat him less than 120+mph....

get a 600, street riding is nothing like dirt. Yes you shift and accelerate and brake the same but it is a whole different world. The concepts of corners and lines are way different on the street. For your first streetbike, never get anything bigger than a 600. I am 6'3" and 200lbs and rode a 600 for a long time and had a lot of fun. Don't listen to gsxrsrad, he's an idiot, if you get bored of a 600 thats because you don't have any riding skill not because the bikes too small.

really but i hate small bikes but 600 good enough?? and i know the ins. will be so cheapppp well let me ask the dealer who knows me all my life so he might will know which good for me....

skibum91
09-01-2004, 02:47 PM
I don't see why people say a 600 is too small for the street, most people can even use 80% of the potiential of a 600 then want to move to a 1000. if you want a 1000 go get one and just count the days till your dead.

A lot of people always bash the guys on 600's ive had my 97 600 @ about 170mph. Go with the 600, grow into it. Personally i think 1k's are a bit much for average riding. Ive ridden some around here in town and still like my 600 the best. Ive beaten 750s on it and just about had an R1 not to long ago. 80% rider 20% bike. Most diff youll notice is just the punch from like 120+ from the bikes. I say 600 all the way man. If you decide you need more power a month or 5 down the road add full exhaust and a PCIII and drop/add a tooth or 3 and youll be surprised at what the 600 has to offer as for the dirt riding experience i thought the same way.....but dirt is softer, trees wont jump out at you..........trees dont need makeup or talk on cell phones. Its a totally different atmosphere from moto-x riding and the streets

Im 6'2" and I bought a 600, the difference in insurance is like 3k a year at your age. check it out, You can do it online at www.progressive.com I would get the 600. you will learn more on it than a 1000, plus if you ever plan on doing stunts or anything, Learning on the 600 is 10 x safer, and you'll learn alot more. ask ski. ski knows. Plus the size issue. The difference between a 600, 750 and a 1000 gsxr, there really isnt any more leg room for taller guys, or anything. the use almost the exact same specs on their frames. yeah you might find a little more wiggle room. but nothing to really get worked up over, they are about the same size. If you cant fit on the 600, a 1000 isnt going to be much better, look at a different bike. get a standard or something where where you have more room for your body to go up. - Jared -

600 dude, you get the 1000 startin out, so you can try and beat your brother dont sound like your that smart dude. get a bike cause you love ridin if you get the 1000 for wantin to beat uyour brother then just count down the days on the calendar till your dead. the same can happen on a 600 but youll just arrive at death alot quicker on a 1000, if you have no experience.

I own a 600. It is enough power for me. When preforming wheelies and such a 600 easily compares. And if you ever want to take corners at high speeds, you don't want anything more than a 600 being your first bike. I beat my friends who all have 1000's in the corners who are more experienced. And if you ever need more power you can do what I did. Racing exhaust and Stage 3 Power Command. I got my bike to 165 and had room to go. And I don't plan on going any faster. But you can kill yourself on a 600 just as easy as a 1000. Keep that in mind. Just my 2 cents. :cool:I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.

man i tried riding a 91 750 the other day.....a 91 mind you, and i could tell the difference in 1st gear alone, couldnt imagine the difference between the new 600/750 let alone a 1K dont accelerate the dying process man, be smart about it

I have been riding in one frm or another for 20 years..... trust me. I ride twisites I stunt I pimp around town I race dirt in every fasion I am now getting on the road course and I STILL have a 600. You want to ride the twisites, it is a HELL of alot more forgiving, and you can beat the piss out of it without to many worries. You want to stunt, learn a bit of technique and you can pull freeway wheelies right nest to the 1000's youjust have to try harder Plus... imagine the look when your "little" Gixxer600 beats your brothers liter bike... he will be PISSED :thefinger

i know im a lil late on this one but i just signed up for membership...i do have an opinion if you rode dirt bikes you might be use to the torquey power? its just the leanning , weight shift , usage of "both" brakes ,skill and confidense just to name a few. personally i started street riding on a 600katana , im now on a gixr750 6years of riding later. i personally vote for you to get the new gs500 gixr lookalike bike because this new 2004 gix6 has the most power of the sixs this year 107ponies , if you get a power commander , timing retard eliminater , larger air box , k-n filter , 2-up rear sprocket , and 1-down front sprocket , and a full race exhaust you'll have at least 115 or more ponies and with practice pull 2nd gear wheelies....hmmm....i take back that safe vote of gs500 and vote for the new gix6 with a lil money and performance mods that bike will out run my 99gixr750 on paper at least

Get the 750 man!!!!!!!! Every size bike handles about the same. There is no dif between any of them it's just how hard you crack the throttle. If you are used to using a clutch on the dirtbike, you'll be fine!!! Just take it slow at first. The turns are the hard part but it won't matter what bike your on. If you get a 750+ be easy when shifting at high RPMs.

http://img199.echo.cx/img199/633/necromancer9zr.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us) Necormancer has a supernatural ability to bring long-dead forum discussion threads back to life. After having been flogged to death the thread may have been deceased for many years, and bringing it back may have scant relevance to the current topic, yet Necromancer will unexpectedly exhume the thread’s rotting corpse, and strike horror in the forum as its grotesque form lurches into the discussion. The monster, instantly recognized by all who knew it in life, seems at first to breathe and have a pulse, but, alas, it is beyond Necromancer’s skill to fully restore the thread’s original vitality. The hideous apparition may frighten away some of the weaker Warriors or Warriors badly wounded in former battles, but the thread is only a shadow of its former self and very quickly expires.

hahahaha i was like "wtf is this thread doing back up top" hahhahaha oh, and my comment on this subject is this...i have NO CLUE why dumbasses try to tell me "i'm getting the 750 as my first bike because i'm a bigger guy and the 600 is too small." thats funny, the bikes are IDENTICAL. only difference is the motor
