He has made his decision and is going to continue racing motorcycles through 2007. Article (http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=sportsNews&storyID=2006-05-24T161530Z_01_L24585791_RTRUKOC_0_UK-MOTOR-RACING-ROSSI.xml&pageNumber=0&imageid=&cap=&sz=13&WTModLoc=3)

Good choice the F1 boys would have tore him alive.

I think he would have done alright but not become a champion. He would have to learn a lot of the mechanics all over again.

no way would he want to leave moto GP as a highly potential loser this year! If he was going he should have gone at the end of last season. If Yamaha dont improve, expect him on something else next season though!

Next year will also be interesting because of the new rules for engine displacement size.

I wouldn't really say he's having his ass handed to him. He's had some pretty serious mechanical failures. In China he was running in 4th and catching up when a chunk of his tire came apart. In France at Le Mans he was leading by like 6 seconds and pulling away on each lap when the bike just quit. I'm willing to bet you'll see a return of The Doctor in Mugello. New chassis, home circut, Rossifumi in fine style :)

Like previously stated he was passing alot of riders from his poor starting grid. He placed 4th in one race and he started at the back of the grid running down hayden on 3rd place. Another race he ran everyone hard and got to top 5 only to retired after his front tire had a chunk come off and he started in the middle of the grid. Last race he had a hugh lead only to have a mechanical failure. He has been in a row of bad luck. I agree for sure he will run strong in mugello. I read an article on speedtv that his new chassis is working up to par and the chatter should be gone for the up coming race. I know pedrosa has been running hard, hayden leading the championship, and melandri winning 2 races but all on the honda bikes. honda in motogp has always been consistent in the 4 strokes in the past years. though luck that yamaha is having problems

Actually the new Yamaha chassis is a mix of the 05 technology and the 06 technology. Rossi actually said that there was no point going back tot he complete 05 chassis and it wouldn't fit the 06 engine which he likes. Also, Edwards is getting the new chassis for Mugelo. Chatter problem was still there for Rossi in Le Mans, but not as bad and only with the Qualifier on. So hopefully they can iron that out in practice and warm up at Mugello and then we'll see what happens when they throw a qualifying tyre on. Yes i said tyre on purpose :P

Rossi needs to get back on last years bike. He doesn't look comfortable this year.

Yup he said going back to the 05 chassis feels like a step back to the development of the bike and to yamaha....He'll run hard this week in mugello....
