figone 06-12-2006, 11:24 AM Or better yet, has anyone been able to successfully register a 49-state bike with less than 7,500 miles in California? Anyone know of an office that "might" overlook the emissions sticker?
Just bought a bike in Nevada and I'm trying to find a hook-up! :headscrat
02GSXR6 06-12-2006, 11:36 AM I will talk to a friend of mine that just went through that.

trade out for someones speedometer, i was able to register mine because of military exemptions:)
SimmCity 06-12-2006, 06:56 PM trade out for someones speedometer, i was able to register mine because of military exemptions:)I'm gonna try that one. I heard from a cop that there is no such thing as a 49 state bike. Keep in mind that "I heard," I don't know. I am not from CA just live here.
figone 06-13-2006, 02:14 AM Yeah,
On the CA model bikes there is an emissions sticker on the right side of the frame that looks like the one pictured below. The DMV needs this sticker if the vehicle is under 7,500K.
Anyone in CA with a bike over 7,500 miles wanna part with his/hers?
Lyte- 06-13-2006, 12:16 PM the sticker alone will not help you at the DMV seeing they can look up the vin and tell which one it is...
swapping out the speedometer is the best bet for you.. or hit up some track days and put some miles on that bitch... ive known a couple people went through the same thing
erbilabuc 06-13-2006, 05:43 PM I'm gonna try that one. I heard from a cop that there is no such thing as a 49 state bike. Keep in mind that "I heard," I don't know. I am not from CA just live here.
id register it for you:) but in my name
00gsxr00 06-13-2006, 09:45 PM sucks! I bought my bike in Maryland and I am now back for good. I have a K6 600 with 800miles on it.... ive been riding it to work once or twice a week. it'll take me a while to get it up to 7,500  hoping i wont get pulled over while waiting for the 7,500 mileage. anyone out there can help me? not help me by borrowing my bike and ride it... meaning help me swap speedo.... hehe.
SimmCity 06-14-2006, 01:03 AM id register it for you:) but in my namethat's a deal. Hell I'll even let you take over the payments and my insurance I'll keep it at my place and ride it for ya since you are nice enough to register it.
figone 06-14-2006, 12:52 PM Hey 00gsxr00,
Have you tried to register the bike in CA? If so, do they catch it by the out-of-state title or by the VIN #?
00gsxr00 06-15-2006, 12:42 PM Hey 00gsxr00,
Have you tried to register the bike in CA? If so, do they catch it by the out-of-state title or by the VIN #?
I didnt bother standing in line... Ive a maryland title and im sure they'll catch it on my VIN #. plus, i have maryland tags on it. Damn bike is written with Maryland all over it. If you go to DMV website... they specify there that they will have an inspector from DMV or CHP inspect the bike before they can even register it. I have that emissions sticker and complied to US... but doesnt say California. My bike is brand new... i'll try to talk to suzuki if they know a way to get around with this especially with Brand new bikes. if anybody out there knows any additional info please help
erbilabuc 06-15-2006, 04:07 PM why not just keep your maryland registration on it? I have been in Cali for 2 years and my explorer is still registered in florida plus I have a nevada drivers liscence
00gsxr00 06-16-2006, 11:08 AM why not just keep your maryland registration on it? I have been in Cali for 2 years and my explorer is still registered in florida plus I have a nevada drivers liscence
yeah... didnt have much choice but to do the same thing youre doin now. I just need to be extra careful not to get pulled over. btw, what about your insurance? do you have california insurance with FLA tags?
John_Deere_Polaris_440 06-16-2006, 02:25 PM write a letter to arnold schwartsinigger or how ever you say it and tell him to "terminate" emissions laws "" rahhhh do it now! if you want to live" if that dont work tell him hes a shitty actor....
what makes your bike different forma cali bike?? is htere actually a difference in emissions or performance???
what if you had to buy a new frame for it from suzuki due to a crash? wouldnt the new vin numbered frame indicate it wasnt a cali bike???? perhaps you can jsut get that sticker from suzuki and bs that inspector catch him around 5 530 hill be in more of a hurry to run home ot his fat wife than look your bike over really good
what if some one who was good with computer could make your speedo read 7500??? sorry bout your situation bro move to michigan so i got someone to ride with
lmao good luck keep us posted
erbilabuc 06-18-2006, 09:28 AM yeah... didnt have much choice but to do the same thing youre doin now. I just need to be extra careful not to get pulled over. btw, what about your insurance? do you have california insurance with FLA tags?
im in the marines so its different for military but I have florida tags with CA insurance. CA is weird, I was pulled over with expired tags, no tags and also no registration and cop didnt care. As long as you are insured cops seem not to care.
02GSXR6 06-18-2006, 09:46 AM ok heres the deal dosent matter where the bike is from if it has 7500 miles on it you can reg it in Ca. the emissions dont matter after 7500 miles that is why they do it but if you try to reg before 7500 miles then they will put the vin in the system and you will never be able to get it here again. keep it reg out of state untill you get 7500 miles on it or look on ebay and find a speedo with over 7500.
