It would be great if there was a forum for this or if this was a sticky for a week. I am going to try this again but I will give alot more notice. Im thinking next Saturday at around 6 ish. Im open to where everybody wants to meet up if a place is not brought up then I will choose. Please let me know if you are interested and if you are going to show. I see so many GSX-R's running all over San Diego and I want to meet them and if they are not part of this site then I want to tell them about it. I have a couple things in mind but I want to see if this works out first, thanks Jason

Let me suggest time and place. Friday at 6PM Togos in Mission Valley. The owners are sport bike racers by the name of Vaugh and Laurie. They usually hold bike nights there on tuesdays durring the summer but havn't started them up again. If we do this, we might make them want to start it again. They are really good people and last summer gave away like 5000 dollars in free stuff. Foods pretty good, and its in Mission Valley which is pretty damn central to san diego.

Warning to anyone thinking of posting a time and place to ride with complete strangers in Las Vegas. Don't do it! Las Vegas is in the top 3 for motorcycle theft in the US. Here is what happens, bike clubs (TrickStars or it might be PicStars) have members in their clubs (Stretch, no joke that what they call him) who go to these meets. They scope out bikes they like and either find out where you work or follow you home. So, to keep it short, you get off work or wake up in the morning and someone broke into your garage and you no longer own a bike. These clubs are stunters so you can figure out what they are doing with the bikes. Sorry, I do not mean to piss anyone off, let me just say that it is a small group with in these clubs and not all of their members do these acts. :headshake

Do you have any proof of this?

i heard ruff ryders do that kind of shiat. one of my buddies bike got jacked after being worked on by a ruff ryder. i can't say that they all do that stuff but not a lot of people here like them. oh yeah, i was also told never to be on their mailing list. just a heads up.

Do you have any proof of this? I have ridden with some of these people. They were alot of fun to watch ride while going down the street but, once we pulled over, small groups would talk about the things they did the week before. I could go into greater detail, but what could I say in a forum that could be called "proof?" I am on my own little crusade to find out where they take the bikes. Why? My bike was stolen. :2hard

I just got my bike on Friday, have about 150 miles on it right now, so I just may be down... I have to work Monday unfortunately... If I could ask too, how long did it take you to break in your back tire to get good lean grip... It feels really unsticky to me when I get into a lean pretty good, and I'm already past their "break-in" point...

brotherfry
07-01-2006, 07:52 PM
My tires felt pretty sticky within the first hour of riding. It does not take long to heat up the Battle Ax tires. I will be switching to Pilot Powers when they wear out though.

Probably my nooberness then not feeling 100% stable, I'll just keep chipping away at the leaning skills...

Only thing that hurts after riding that long is my left shoulder, which I have problems with anyway. Being my first bike, and having just got it, I can't stay off the damn thing!

Only thing I'm missing is boots, and I wouldn't think of moving without all the gear on ... Got the insurance too, and definitely the head part... Funny thing is I was fine knowing that the bike was a bit much to learn on... That was until I started reading all this "You're going to die a horrible death while looping the bike 600 ft into the air in the twisties as a SUV runs you over because a deer darted into your path and you didn't know how to brake" stuff. Now all these bastards got me worried about dying everytime I even look at the bike. Then again, I love this bike so f'n much its ridiculous. It's like it was made for me... I swear the damn thing cries when I'm not around :) Well here's to hoping I'll be that "exception" that apparently NO ONE is...

Veng, on a 100% serious note. You are the only one in control of the throttle. As long as you are smart about it (you seem to be from your posts) take it slow, and don't try to push your limits on the street. You're still in the "fear/respect" period of learning to ride. When you lose that fear, thats when people crash. MANY of those idiots who crash, are riding outside their limits. Don't do that and you should be ok.

My Dad has been riding for close to 30 years, and he flat out told me to start on a 6er if that's what I wanted. So coming into it I had my Dad's advice, I was like yeah baby I'll be fine, just heed the bike and give it the respect required... Then I come here and some other boards, and now I'm like OMG I should just sell it because I will certainly die a horrific death :( Guess I'll just keep plugging away on my 55mph slightly twisty back roads and hope that I manage to stay out of trouble. All I know is I love riding, in fact I don't know how I went 26 years without riding on the street. It's like the whole world disappears, time doesn't matter, and it's just you and your bike. (That and the SUV cagers trying to kill you at every turn :) ) Anyway, bike's in the garage locked away... The day is young, and it's time to DRINK! Happy 4th all, and safe riding if you're out there with the maniacs today.
