I'm in Florida. I want to buy a bike for stunting that I can legally ride on the roads. I'm being told from one person that I cannot register a bike with a salvage title and some say I can. Another says I'll have to get one with a rebuildable title if I want to register it. Any help here with this would be great. I have no idea what to believe anymore. If something runs, why wouldn't i be able to register and drive it. Unless it was stolen, of course. HELP HELP HELP

you can register a salvage title bike in florida, you just have to bring it to the dmv and let them run the numbers on it and you have to show proof of where you got the parts, its kinda a pain in the ass but you can do it. Go down to the tag office and they will give you the process information

LOL, I hear your frustration. I am in basically the same process in another state. I was given The Number to call for all things title-related in the state capitol. After being passed on to the third phone number, I was directed back to the first one! Well shit! The circle is complete! I am not concerned about the title being salvage or rebuilt, I just want to be able to get my insurance coverage and a legal tag. Just take a deep breath and keep swinging. The car lots that specialize in abandoned/lost/rebuilt autos should be able to point you in the right direction. The process is much the same I hear. At least that what a guy who knows a guy who dated his sister's cousin told one of my buds.

I just refinished rebuilding a salvage bike here in MA. I had to have the bike reinspected submitting copies of all receipts for repairs done and the parts purchased. All parts purchased used must have the vin for the bike in which they came off of. There are official forms that must be completed that can be downloaded off of the dmv website for your state. However I advise that if you plan on half assing the repairs and try to skimp on replacing parts more than likely you will fail reinspection. They are usually pretty strict when you go for the inspection. I hope this helps and I have not forgotten anything.
