Sarsoorasherif 06-25-2006, 12:36 PM Hi everyone, I just bought a gixxer 600 and I'm lowering it 2 inches. I'm pretty short though so I was wondering if any of you have suggestions of which ladies boots have a pretty thick sole so I'll feel more comfortable being able to touch down more of the ground. Thanks so much!
gsxrnat 06-26-2006, 01:54 PM I have the Icon "stealth" boots. they are for everyday riding. they feel weird at first but Im lost without them. Obviously boots are better but I also wear skechers, believe it or not they are awesome for riding. well if your a 5'2 girl they are anyways, they have big heals and they come in handy when the road is uneven and you have to stop.
ShortGirl 08-21-2006, 10:37 AM I have to wear these:

I know they are not riding shoes, but me being 5'1" I have to resort to wearing 2 inch thick soles. All riding boots I've seen so far have a very thin sole :headshake

What's the biggest problem most women riders have? Right. Touching the ground. Well, if this is the case with you, you can gain ¾ inch, maybe more, just by wearing these boots. Yep. We measured Linda with a pair of these and she stood 5' 4 ¼ ". Then we measured her with her regular boots and she was 5' 3 ½ ". She's 5' 3" in bare feet. Short guys can wear these, too, if their feet are this small. Otherwise, take a look at the M-Stars. Same boot, larger sizes. Technical details: adjustable calf, reinforced shin and ankle, comfortable preformed innersole, Scotchlite heel reflector, oil and gas resistant sole. And one more thing. The Lady Star GTX is waterproof because of a Gore-Tex® lining.
LadyStar, Black. Sizes 35-39. Price: $389.95*
Sarsoorasherif 08-21-2006, 11:56 AM thanks! lately i've just been riding the street in k-swiss's and i can tiptoe both feet at red lights. but once i save up a good chunk of change i'll invest in some nice boots so that maybe i'll be able to touch down a little more. how tall are you other ladies?
SuzukiGirl 08-21-2006, 12:07 PM i'm 5'0 my bike is lowered 1 inch and my seat is shaved

damn .. those are nice .. but 400 ? WOW
I grabbed a pair of mens black work boots from Kmart for like $20 .. Thick soles. Kinda weird at first , but they give you good footing ..
ShortGirl 08-21-2006, 02:32 PM yeah, 400 is a bit way too much for me too. My leather jacket didnt cost that much :D See, my husband wants me to have a boot with a little heel just like on that pic, but I am not so sure. I want flat little thicker sole
Sarsoorasherif 08-21-2006, 02:44 PM do u recommend shaving the seat? i brought the idea up to my fiance and he said he thought it would be way too uncomfortable, but im not a complainer so i can handle it as long as its not like im sitting on straight metal.

Damn girl.. You should really look harder to find yourself some better protection for your feet.

I know. I am looking, but all bike boots are a very thin sole shoes. I need the 2 extra inches so I can be flat footed. My bike is lowered 3 inches on the back and 1 inch on th efront. The only thing left to do for me is to shave the seat. I dont know how big of a difference that can make.
I am also looking at regular non-riding boots.

you are not gonna be uncomfortable if you shave the seat. Its done from underneath so you should be still fine :D

If you get the seat shaved & done right using that memory foam your ass will be more comfy than it is now....
I also rec that you drop the front an additional 2 or raise your rear up 2... gotta keep thigs in perspective and equal drops .. but thats just my .02

Sarsoorasherif 08-22-2006, 12:20 PM Do you guys wear the nice boots for everyday riding or for big things like canyons/track??
SuzukiGirl 08-22-2006, 12:26 PM Do you guys wear the nice boots for everyday riding or for big things like canyons/track??
Well I wear my race boots for like mtn riding, track or just whenever I feel like riding it on the street and tuck them underneath my pants so you cant really tell you have them on. It is safer but most times if I go to a bike night or something I either have on regular sneakers or timberland boots.
For everyday riding you should be fine with any kind of boot that covers your ankles that the most important part.
n1sniper 08-22-2006, 02:28 PM Suzukigirl.. where'd you get your boots ?
Mister Tee 08-23-2006, 02:36 PM Also, you can easily add 1/2" to any boot or shoe with an orthopedic heel-only insert like these http://www.fitfeet.com/heel_lifts.phtml but there are others that will work fine too. You put them under the liner.

i was just about to say that.. goto walmart and buy some dr scholls insoles... it may only be 1/4 of an inch. but.. every little bit helps! ]
Sarsoorasherif 08-30-2006, 11:09 PM thanks for all the ideas! i finally got comfortable just resting on one foot at stops, so i guess i can work with normal heeled boots now. all i gotta do is save up some money and buy a super nice pair. :D
