Do you have your license or have you taken the MSF (motorcycle saftey) Course? I would suggest that and then Ride a few times on your own and see how much you like it. Some girls like being on the back better and some like riding by themselves, it all depends on you.

If you have never ridden I would suggest a Katana 600...that was my first street bike and it was cool to get use to everything on. It all depends on if you have ever ridden at all. I learned to ride on a dirt bike which makes a street bike seem really easy to handle. Plus I liked the feel of the Katana it had a good center of gravity and was not too heavy for me, which was one of the hardest things to get use to comming from a dirt bike to a street bike. The power is not intemidating either, I mean you could still cruise comfortable with the bigger bikes like GSXR's and stuff but not feel scared of the throttle..plus the Katana is sporty looking compared to some of the other models like the SV's (that is just my opinion). :)

I have been on the back before and I am over riding on the back. I dont want to get the same bike as by boyfriend, maybe i can just wait and get his as a hand me down. That way its not brand new. And I am going to take the class with him next month. Just didnt know if there was a bike out there that is a good starter for me.

I would suggest an SV650, or a GS500 as a starter bike, maybe even smaller depending on your size. They are both really good bikes, and I would suggest to start riding on a small bike, rather than something like a 600 or larger.

Start with something practical, then after a year or two riding experience, go out and buy your pretty bike that you want.

well i guess i like the SV650S, but my boyfriend probably wouldnt be caught riding next to me if i had that bike. Is that like a cool thing for both of us to have motorcycles?

Well then thats his problem if he wouldn't. You can make those bikes look a lot like GSXR's with aftermarket bodywork. Yea that would be good. If you want your own bike then get one.

If he doesn't want to ride with you then guess what hun there are a shit load of otha guys that will. Then you tell me if he won't want you riding with him!! Who cares if your riding a GSX-R, a SV a CBR, R1, R6 only thing that matters is that your having fun and that it's something u wanna do.

My suggestion is that you ride or atleast test out alot of different bikes before you decide to buy one..your height, weight, and strength will have alot to do with what bike will be comfortable for you..also my opinion is that what a bike looks like IS important..I know that if I had a sorry looking bike I would have not cruised it looking all dumb!!! Just my opinion

Not trying to start a big thing. But you might think im a squid or whatever riding is fun but one of the best parts about it is having a cool looking bike. Thats why I would be just as happy with a gsx-r 600 as a 1000. Because they look the same. I bought my bike for just cruising. I won't be doing tricks or hauling ass 100+. But I will get on it from time to time just to feel the speed. Looks are really important

You must be self conscience or something, because if you love riding you'll sport what ever you can get your hands on. If you are going to spend the money to invest in a bike it should be one that you love, I am not self conscience I just know what I like and there is nothing wrong with that :thefinger . If someone is going to go out and spend 10,000 $$$ on a bike it SHOULD be exactly what they want! Even if they are going to spend less it should be a bike they like for their own reasons!! I only paid 1500$ for my katana and ya I could have bought something else but I personally liked the way it rode and looked and the price was right for my budget. I don't hate on other bikes like I said "I would not spend money on something I don't Like" :fu:

I now know that looks don't matter, it's function over fashion any day in my book. Yeah I want my bike to look good but I like a lot of bikes that other people don't like. Personally I think some of the naked bikes are tits. Fairings or no fairings, it doesn't really matter to me. I wish they sold Benelli's over here because their TNT Cafe Racer is saaaaweeeeeeetttt. Here is a picture of it.

I wouldn't drive it but it looks better than the sv650 and other bikes without fairings. It just looks cheap to me.

Well I most likey wont buy a new one, a friend of mine is selling his and I might just buy it from him. Its in great shape and I am getting a deal on it. and I know for a fact that there isnt anything wrong with it. But does anyone see a problem with painting the bike pink? Would I get made fun of if I did something like that?

My first bike was an old KZ 400. I picked it up for $300 bucks!! I taught myself on that for like a month. I never got it registered or insured so i had to becarful and i had to stay in the neighborhood. After i felt i could get going without stalling the bike and be comfortable around cars i bought a FZR 600, i think it was a 97. And thats all she wrote, after that its all about getting out there and getting that all important... EXPERIENCE!!!! Have fun.

My first bike was a 01 katana 600, great bike for learning on, but after a while I was wanting more power. But I think a 98+ katana would be awesome for a girl, or just get a gixxer sixxer. Buy used with a few scratches so you won't cry when you drop it, and you will drop it, and just have fun. I'm selling the 01 in the spring and I just got a 00 gix 750
