I'll try my luck again on this issue... Originally, Im here from SOCAL, moved to the east coast and lived there for a year... bought my 2006 GSXR 600 there and decided to come back here in SOCAL last may of this yr. I'm having a hard time registering my bike since i do not have 7500 miles on it yet (cali emissions law). Can someone direct me on how I can register my bike? Options: 1) if you know someone who works at the DMV and can hook me up - i'm willing to pay if price is reasonable. 2) if you have more than 7500 miles on your k6 600 bike and willing to swap ECU with mine and with lower miles (cant do speedometer, actual mileage registers on ECU) - this is advantage for you if you want your mileage to go back at 1,500... or if you dont want you can just lend me your ECU thats ok too. - again, i will pay just let me know the price. 3) any suggestions please let me know... except borrowing my bike and racking up miles til 7500  thanks in advance peepz!

You were a resident werent you ? this law applies to peoples whom try to buy a bike out of state and register it here. that are a Ca resident. If you are a resident of that state in the east coast and can prove it you dont have to wait the 7500 miles.

I worked there for only a year and never changed my Drivers license. I filled my taxes last year though as Maryland resident. I dont want to take the chance coz if DMV cant register my bike they will flag it.

FYI my parents are california residence.. i am a california residence but we have zero issues registering our cars in TX. I don't believe they look at tax returns as that has nothing to do with your DMV record (for example i have cars under my name registered to 3 different address's 2 in CA and 1 in texas. someone needs to come up off a ECU for a day or 2 and help dude out!

Break your bike in more. Ride 24-36 hours a weekend (It will make up for those of us who don't / can't ride).

I know for a fact that if youre a non california resident you can register your 49th state bike with less than 7500. I called DMV before just to verify that and they said 49th state bike doesnt apply if youre non cali resident. but if you are a resident - you go by the 7500 and above to register. Call the DMV just to double check again.

They why don't you "sell" (in paperwork only) it to someone who is physically in ca but not a ca residence? (I am going to change my residency soon I think) Don't got any family in maryland to reg it for you?

You know, I just had a brain fart - I know you posted this in another forum and I threw out a few things, but I forgot to mention that it's NBFD to register a car or a bike in Nevada. All you really need to do is have a forwarding address (a PO box with a physical address option, you can get those.) Nevada was one of those places that military people would claim as a residency state for tax and vehicle registration purposes.
