Yeah that's a sweet ride, except for all the speed traps:headshake I ride there all the time - I especially like coming back Salmon Falls road and burning up some side rubber. Where those traps at?

i have seen CHP out there, but I have never seen any speed traps...going up to grass valley is where you see all the speed traps.

The only place that i've seen them is in Kool, but that was only twice.

49 goes over i80 right? I was just up in Auburn yesterday and pasted 49 exit and remembered this thread. Anyone notice the past couple days in Sacramento area, all the cops out. I've been noticing a ton of motorcycle cops all on the side of the road using LIDAR.

No! Guys/Girls, the Little Dragon is HWY 49, North of Mariposa to Coulterville. The twisties are north of Bear Valley. And yeah, I ride it ALL the time! GREAT road and little traffic! Sometimes though, there's sand/mud on the road or it "looks" like there's mud on the road!? It's weird, it's like Caltrans cleaned the road with a muddy rag... Check out: http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Hwy49Dragon.htm http://groups.yahoo.com/group/JaBoB/ And Modesto Dave, I'm in Turlock... Let's ride some time. -Paul :-)

This morning I woke up, took a pee and threw on my helmet and decided to check 49 out. (Auburn/Placerville area) Wow! My 1st time ever riding some twisties and I couldn't get enough of it. Put 100 miles on my bike today.

i live in el dorado hills so i ride salmon falls to 49 to 193 and back like every day the best twisty's ive ever been on espically when you take the forest hill route and ride across the forest hill brigde cali's tallest bridge at 730 feet also the one vin disel drives the vette off of in XXX but yea love those rodes very dangerous through friends wrecked my matt maldin edition 1000 on the road:headshake :headshake :headshake

I agree! I love Foresthill road from the bridge heading south I think (Heading away from 80/Auburn). Some sweeeeet long ass sweepers and great twisties sections. Friend of mine was talking to a cop that works that area. He said most cops don't care how fast you go on the twisties. But, on the straights, no triple digit shit and absolutely no wheelies. I guess they have a hard-on for people who love to do wheelies over the Forest Hill bridge. I know I'm gonna eat my words here, but I have yet to see one cop on forest hill road/ 49. :arsenal

I got to roll the 49 from Mariposa to Auburn last weekend. A very nice ride. I gotta say the first part to Coulterville is is one of the nicest stretches of pavement in Cali!

I ride highway 4 from stockton out to 49 then south to sonora, it's a real nice ride with good pavement and i've only seen one cop and it was a biker, I just passed him today going the opposite way on a big sweeper with a good lean on doin 80 in a 50 or 55. I just waved and he waved back and we both went on with our wonderful rides. I'm gonna head north next weekend towards sac on highway 49. Does anyone want to join? I'll probly go both saturday and sunday.
