Here is the article Motorcycle theft ring busted One arrested after Hubbard Ave. sting By Gene Haschak Daily Herald Staff Writer Posted Thursday, September 14, 2006 The usual quiet of a west side Elgin neighborhood has been regularly shattered by the roar of 40 to 50 motorcycles for months. With Monday’s police breakup of an apparent cycle chop shop, peace should once again embrace Hubbard Avenue, police said. Members of the Kane County Auto Theft Task Force and the Elgin Police Department entered 379 Hubbard Ave. with a search warrant at 3:18 p.m. Monday and arrested Fernando Juarez, age 22. Police brought motorcycle after motorcycle out of the home and garage to the sidewalk, photographed them and then loaded them onto flatbed trailers, according to reports. Police said 27 motorcycles and an all-terrain vehicle were seized. At least 15 of the motorcycles and the ATV had been reported as stolen. On Monday, an Elgin police officer in the Hubbard area received a computer tracking notice that a motorcycle stolen from Schaumburg was in Elgin. Then four officers performed a grid search, which pointed to the 379 address, police said. Juarez appeared at a bond hearing Wednesday and was charged with three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, three counts of possession of a converted vehicle and one count of aggravated possession of three stolen vehicles. Juarez must post $7,500 bond to go free. “Up to 12 more new charges against Juarez are anticipated,” said Assistant Kane County State’s Attorney Avery Johnson. __________________
