i just got my '04 gsxr 1000 2 1/2 weeks ago brand new. last nite i was leaving work around 2am and i was turning left at a stoplight, and my back tire slid on that damn tar that they use to seal up the sensors they put in the ground. only going about 10mph, but enough to put it on its side. thank god i put frame sliders on 4 days ago. the fairings arent touched at all. little bit of scrape on the factory pipe (which is getting replaced anyway), slight bend in the right foot lever, and a little dent in the gas tank from the bike falling on my knee. i will just bend the brake lever back out, but is it possible to get the dent pulled relatively cheap (i know they cant drill). speed safely!

sorry to hear that. That almost happen to me when I was driving by my buddies house and the road was wet. When I took off, the rear sword of came underneat me, but I was able to kick it up. For the dent, I think it can be pulled but it proly will need a paint job. They proly have to weld to be able to pull, then smooth everything back up. Can the dent be covered by a bra or is it that bad?

Had about the same thing thing happen to me the other day....was at a stoplight makeing a long left turn, back tire hit gravel slid, than it caught with the bike was pretty much diagnal, dont really remember what happened, but it pretty much threw me off, screw came out in the oil tank or near it and all of it just rushed out. Gotta get a new back fairing, side right fairing, new windsheild, new back brake and peg, paint the front fairing, new mirror, thats about it. I was going about 30mph I beleive, had leather on except for jeans, tore a few holes in theme and got my right knee pretty good.

yah, i could probably cover it with a bra for now. just sucks that it happened while doing something so simple as a 10mph turn. stupid road crews and their tar :) oh yeah, im not riding anymore unless its above 50 degrees :)

you don't have to worry about the tank dent anymore... I was going to say though, can't you hammer that out from the inside?

bought my new gsxr 600 this month and dropped it within a week... at about 5-10 mph (new tires/parkinglot/I'm a dumbass) framesliders saved me excepting a scratch on the left faring -about 6 sq in. that can't be buffed- and a tad of paint off of the cover... oh yeah, and it bent the shift lever... which I just tried to bend back yesterday, while doing my first oil change, with a vice grip... *$60 snap* Better than highsiding at 45 into a ditch... I promise.

I hate the roads that are in cities that have constant high heat and alot of traffic. The roads are so compacted it is like ice... bugs the crap out of me.

That hella sucks that your baby got stolen in such little time. Atleast you know now to lock it up somewhere safe. Also, as someone mentioned, you don't have to worry about the dent in the tank anymore because you could have yourself a shiney new 05 1k, the most wanted and talked about bike this year. See, there's some good that can come of out it.

DAMN, if you didn't have bad luck you would you wouldn't have any. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Good Luck on finding a new one. That's a heck of a way to get a dent out though.

although i dented my tank in a much simpler way...i forgot i parked it behind my jeep one night..got up late for work and backed right into it,only 2 weeks old, replaced the side fairing, mirror, front fairing and tank! the jeep impacted so lightly due the the fact i recalled parking it there just before bumping it,the fall on chunk sized gravel on a sloped driveway did all the damage. needless to say...i ended up being very late for work, although i do believe none of my neighbors needed an alarm clock to wake up that morning, hearing someone yelling "f.ck!" at 6am should have done the trick.
