A GSX-R 1k should kick 'em in the ass... but if you aren't too much into dragging and he is.. then I might re-consider it. At the track Saturday one guy ran a 11.6 on a 9r while a better rider was hitting 10.8 and they both were stock... It depends on your ability, not soooo much on the bike...
Since it dosen't sound like you drag too much (no offense) I wouldn't put money on it, but it could be fun! Cody 03-31-2005, 08:15 AM do a first gear roll skibum91 03-31-2005, 08:39 AM if you have any skill compared to that guy, you should whoop is ass. badass1000 03-31-2005, 08:55 AM with a 1050 big bore kit and some head work you can have a zx9r over 160hp. Depends on what is done to the 9 and how good the rider is and how good of a rider you are.
If he is a good rider and you are not he will beat you.
Don't forget a 99 zx9r was the first production bike to run a 9 second quarter mile stock. Of course that was with ricky gadson riding it. skibum91 03-31-2005, 09:17 AM it all depends on rider, because I beat a zx-10 that is supposed to be pushing 15+ more horsepower than my bike, and whooped his ass by 5 bike lengths. chadster 03-31-2005, 10:15 AM i ran my bike 2 times at the strip and run high 10 @142 if i can find the slip i will post it :thefinger
i think that the 9 that guy has is stock and not a good rider i was just wondering if he could beat me iam trying to get him on the track but he wants to run on the street audi1031 03-31-2005, 10:47 AM high 10's at 142 means your not getting out the hole that well, but your still got a decent number though. You should have him hands down based on that.
If he gets you by a bike length in the begining stick to your shifter and don't redline and you will reel em in by 3rd or 4th gear and you should have atleast 1-2 bikes on him unless he is terrible.
This bike never had a chance with me at stock length Jeff405 03-31-2005, 08:48 PM 11.6 on a 9r
That's what I run on my 03' 600, and I am terrible at launching. I'm scared of bustin' a big wheelie. lol badass1000 04-01-2005, 09:06 AM You have a good mph. You would beat him on a roll for sure if he doesn't have any motor work done.
With a high 10 in the 1/4 it is open game on if he would beat you or not. chadster 04-01-2005, 10:43 AM i know i could have better times but i cant hold it down i dont weigh but 150 hell i cant gas it till 2 and then shes all over the track i just cant hold her down dam beast. where i live there is a bunch of 600s 2 zx900 and 1 busa but the guy has the busa wont ride it hard he just wants to look big on it so there is really nothing to run with the boys on the 600 hell they have never had a bike and went and bought them all in a week so iam not worryed about them 1 guy on the zx9 can ride but has done said he has nothing for me its the other zx9 thats wants some i guess i will let him have some Dstrbd GSXR 04-01-2005, 11:21 AM Strap it!!! ZgixxeR 04-01-2005, 11:26 AM I smoked many a 900 in the 1/8th. It's funny because they think I can't drag race because I don't do it much. Little do they know when I first got my 1k I was at the strip every weekend and got used to it at stock height. I go to drag strips to ride wheelies in a controlled environment. I don't race until someone challenges me. I had this guy on a 1k tell me that he could beat me anyday of the week on my 1k. He was new to riding period. He did beat my friend Kyle but that was because Kyle spun at the line. I decided to race him because he was talking smack. I beat him on one wheel. When I launched the front started to come up like it always does. I rode it out and speed shifted into second and the front wheel kept it's height, usually it drops when I shift because I want it to drop. The front wheel was only one the track for a second the whole race. The guy didn't say anything he just got his backpack and left. sarasotamale 04-13-2005, 10:14 PM I smoked many a 900 in the 1/8th. you want to talk about upset, the guy with the busa, wouldn't even shake my hand! sore loser!!
ct BRETT_D 08-17-2005, 07:54 AM i have personally seen a 2001 triumph tt beat a 900r. i had a ninja 250 and beat both of them off the line bad, but then came the zoom. by 1/8 mi the tt had him beat by about 10 bikes but the 9 started to close and caught up after about 1/2mi. we did it twice and same results. this was ALL RIDER! 1000k5 08-18-2005, 02:54 AM 142mph is good mph...but a high ten as described...ur not getting out of the hole....i pull 9.70's @ 146.......not much more mph..but alot more et im sure..
my bro has a 02 Zx9r...bone stock lowered and strapped ..it went 6.73@109 in the 8th......my 05 bone stock went 6.52@115 ...i personally think it will come down to the rider skill...but the gsxr should come out ahead ..especially if u only weigh 150 lbs... | |
