I have an 02 600 GSXR, FMF pipe, KN filter, Down one on front sprocket. I have been riding about 3 months. I have a drag strip about 10min away. I race my car there. anyways, my last trip back I ran alot of 11.60-11.30's. I did run one 10.99 @ 124.34, 11.09 @ 124. My sixty foot time on the 10.99 was 1.81, 1/8 mi times ia 7.09 @ 101.9. Bike was strapped, and I have lowering dogbones set in middle hole, about 1.5 dropp I think. I am trying to cut a better sixty foot. I want around a mid to low 1.7. I was told that a 1.7-1.6 was possible on a strapped bike. I got progressivly faster as I was leaving at a high rpm, but after the 10.99 run I tried leaving at a higher rpm and I picke the front up about 2-3ft, slammed my balls , and ran an 11.50, on the next pass, i tried again, same results 2-3ft wheelie, but no ball slam this time. i am going to do the TRE mod, I thought this might pick up the 60ft a little. I also adjusted the rings on the rear shock down a little trying to stop the back dropping/weight transfer a little: I thought the weight transfering so much was throwing me back a little and causing the front to come up. Any ideas or suggestions. I am trying to to get 10.80's
Also, what exactly is the rev limiter set at on an 02 600? I was told 13,500 rpm. Is there a way to remove it/ set it at 14,500-15,000 RPM?
audi1031 04-05-2005, 05:15 AM What gear are you crossing the line at?
If 6th gear at the end your shifting into then try to stay in fifth If you not at redline or near or outof your powerband. Each shifting causes MPH loss. If you want to get at the number also you could go with airshifter and also make sure that your not running back to back to back or you might be warping your plates on clutches.
sprad24 04-05-2005, 05:37 AM Get a ignition advancer and run some 110 in your bike. You'll see a difference.
Also lower the air pressure in your back tire.
I am crossing in 5th gear. How does an air shifter affect every day driving? Once I have airshifter on bike, do I always have to use it?
audi1031 04-05-2005, 08:28 AM airshifter attach to the lever and you can normal shift all day with it. Schnitzracing does have a device that limit wheelies that you can hook up to your bike and if you not going up that means you will be going down the track.
Letting some of the air out your tire will lower your MPH
BTW your doing good on your 60ft
usdm420 04-05-2005, 12:18 PM lowering the air pressure just a tad WILL improve the 60' time that he wants tho'
he'll just need something to give that little extra umpf in the top end....maybe a full exhaust setup...
That's crazy though 10's is damn fast. You've only been riding 3 months?

He is getting a lil better take off but losing in the top end due to his tire pressure. He is running about as fast as he can get on that bike maybe (with that set up). He has a Full exhaust. He could go back stock up front sprocket and up 2 in the rear and pull his mph up and get his 10.8 and still run thru the end on top of 5th
I only have the fmf bolt on canister, sorry about the confusion. What should I run for air pressure in tires? I think I really need to work on my launches?
I talked with some other guys who race, gave me some ideas on suspension settings, really simple, I just didn't know.
When I was 15 I had an 83 suzuki 250 enduro. I rode it for 2yrs or so, clutches went out-I sold it: no time to mess with anymore. This January I got my 02 GSXR 600. I am now 22. I haven't rode in about 4yrs or so.I have just started riding again. I have been riding about 3.5 months. I have laid over twice, once going about 30MPH: my rear cowling blew off, hit me on the back as it was comming off, I slung around to grab it, had my left hand still on handle, When I turned to grab cowling i cut wheel all the way to the right. Second lay down was taking off at the track, no one would really explain anything to me, so I was learning myself. I race cars, automatic cars, not standereds. I tried launching my bike like my car, by holding front brake in, letting clutch out a little, and reving motor up with my thumb. Problem was when I went to gas it, and rolled my hand down, my finger was pulling the front brake in. This happened a quite a few times, track people saw front tire sliding on more than one pass, but they thought I was doing it on purpose. I did not know this was happening, I just thought rear tire kept breaking loose. Anyways, as I was alunching, my rear tire broke loose again, this time I spun around. One guy said it looked like a donut from hell, and another guy said it looked like a helicopter. I spun around, slid off, did not get hurt. jumped up, picked bike up. Then everyone told me what had happened as far as my front tire slidding. After that I had no more problems at the track. I have been getter better and better ET's every time I go back.
audi1031 04-06-2005, 05:39 AM You can goto 20-25 PSI to get your tire to get more grip More tire to track. Oh this is just the front tire and I thought you was running full sysytem My bad
Jeff405 04-06-2005, 08:49 PM What rpm are you launching at? How fast are you letting the clutch out?
I have been varying it. I noticed that when I launched at say 7-8000 Rpm that by the time I finished letting off the clutch I was about 4500-5000 RPM. I luanched higher, around 10 or so, not exactly sure and when I was off the clutch completely I was around 7-8000Rpm. The bike seemed to launch harder. I tried leaving a little higher, and comming off faster and I started pulling about 2-3ft wheelies(hurt my time bad, around .5 sec.) I am going to try the TRE mod. I am also going to play with different launch RPM's. I may try leaving at around 10,000 again and paying with how fast I let the clutch out. I am also going to try some low rpm lauches like 2, 3, 4, 5000. Basically just play with it a little.
usdm420 04-06-2005, 10:00 PM might as well just try from 1 and go thru the whole rpm band

I will tell you this Be prepared to buy some clutches as you will need some sooner than you think. I am sure its gonna be right when you get the hang of things :arsenal
