Im looking to get a lap timer, right now it seems like the MyChron Light and the XT ultra lap are the man ones used by tackdayers and racers. Just wanting to get some feedback between the two. Thanks for any input.

I have both. They both work with the same transmitters and capture your lap times just fine.
At least at the track days that I go to, the XT is far more common. The MyChron does have a few nicer features and you can hook it up to your computer if you want.
Size wise, the XT is more compact. It also has far easier batteries to find than the AIM unit.
Either way, a nice addition to it is the LapTimer Holders
http://www.laptimerholders.com/
More info there on both versions as well.
Either way, they work great, and I use them both.
