04gixxer6 04-08-2005, 07:42 AM I was out riding stand-ups with a bunch of friends out in the country and I wrecked my bike pretty bad. I looped a second gear stand-up at about 60 mph. I'm so glad I had my gear on as it really saved my ass. I'm mostly OK except for some bad road rash on my knees. The ER doctor said it looked like someone shot me in the left knee with a gun. I had to get three staples in my left knee to hold it together.
My friends said it looked like my left foot slipped off the peg which caused me to throttle the bike and loop backwards. I rolled for a couple hundred feet and my bike was said to have flipped several times and then slid into a ditch. After I stopped rolling I ran after my bike and collapsed trying to pull it out of the ditch.
I only saw the bike briefly before a friend took me to the ER but the bike is MESSED UP! The subframe and tail are broken, the whole right side of the bike is gone. The right side of the frame is dented and the frames slider was ground down to a nub. The front fairing stay is broken and the guages, right clip on, master cylider and windscreen are all gone. The tank is toasted as well. My friends think the forks are still good and hopefully the frame is not bent.
I really hope I can fix my bike because I still owe a lot of money on it. It would suck to be making payments for the next four years on nothing. I only wish I could have afforded full coverage on my bike. The cheapest I could find was $2500.00 a year. It will probably cost me $2500.00 to fix it?
I feel really lucky that I didnt break anything and I walked away for the most part. My gear saved my ass.
skibum91 04-08-2005, 08:07 AM well glad to hear your ok, sucks that you had to experience that, but its good you were wearing your gear!!
BallHawk3 04-08-2005, 08:12 AM You should wear knee pads. I do all the time, and most of the people I ride with. After seeing a few people go down and knowing that if they had knee pads....it wouldn't have been as bad.
gixerfast 04-08-2005, 08:13 AM that sux man. glad your ok though,
Dstrbd GSXR 04-08-2005, 08:43 AM I'm sorry to hear that, hope you recover quick!
osugsxr 04-08-2005, 09:55 AM glad you're alright, check out this site for oem parts, ronayers.com, from what i've been reading he has the best deals, good luck getting it back together
ZgixxeR 04-08-2005, 10:17 AM Holla at chip@ronayers.com for parts. He should be able to hook you up. Tell him gixxerfix or motojoe sent you his way. Hey at least you are alive. Bikes can be replaced, you make money everyday, death is forever.
04gixxer6 04-08-2005, 12:06 PM Thanks guys. It sucks to think that my bike was mint and now its just a pile of parts.
I'll definately wear knee pads or riding pants from now on.
papawheelie 04-08-2005, 02:21 PM Welcome to the club man, very glad to hear your ok. The bike is repairable/replaceable. Your not.

glad your ok. but ive got a bit of bad news for ya....i think it may cost a bit more than $2500 to fix. insurance is skyhigh but still worth it,i even have gap insurance..and it costs me $44oo. a year for full cov. which is nuckinfutz in my book, but ya gotta have it. hope it all works out for ya.
ooh yeah...your shoulder looks like mine did when i fell out of my jeep at 40...hope you had gloves on,i slid on my palms till there was nothing left, took 6 months to heal.
LaFemmes 04-08-2005, 03:53 PM Glad to hear your okay... Gear should be a must!
GSXRHeart 04-08-2005, 04:09 PM Gear is golden man, glad to hear your ok. I feel your pain too, I just lost my 02 750 about 7 months ago and walked away with 2 brooses. Get better soon....
04gixxer6 04-08-2005, 09:43 PM Thanks guys. I'm thinking of just putting the bike back in running condition and letting my girl learn to ride on it. I'm thinking about getting a 2003 SV1000s. I like fact that it's a twin and they look really pimp when they are fully faired.
Walk04 04-08-2005, 10:14 PM Its gonna cost you a whole lot more than 2,500 to fix. I was going 20 mph and my bike slid messing up my, back fairing, right fairing, back break level and peg. lil bit of front fairing, and my windsheild, also getting frame sliders installed and the bike serviced. and new mirrors. Grand total as a estimate = $3,030.00. And that was absolutly nothing......
wickmaster 04-09-2005, 04:52 AM Glad to hear you are allright. Crashin sucks bro. On a good note though, we can all save you a ton of money and you can do a custom thing to your bike. I personally have a mint tail and some plastic in my garage. I also have a cut windscreen. Between everybody here you could get your bike running in no time and for minimal cost to you.

How much do you want for the plastic pieces?

I'm not going for original quality. I'm going to put it back in running condition for my fiancee' to ride. That way if she drops the bike or lays the bike down I could care less.
Walk04 04-09-2005, 11:25 AM Their is one thing all bikes must have imop....FRAME SLIDERS....guy at the shop said it would of saved alot of my shit and a screw near a gasket about went through something that would of totaled by bike, luckily it did not. Good thing is I can save all the plastics because their is a guy who knows how to fix em, than I am getting a custom paint job done to it, which is fine with me, always wanted one anyway. Than later I might get D & D exhaust put on it, I have Yoshimura on it now, got a lil banged up, nothing bad, but might want to replace at a later date. All in all not to bad, I think I got my bike cost down to 1,500-2,000 with a custom paint job.
DJ0416 04-09-2005, 03:11 PM Wohhh! Glad to hear you're ok

Thanks, I've decided to turn my bike into a streetfighter. The only pieces I can use is the rear fairing and gas tank.
the Doctor 04-18-2005, 10:25 PM If your subframe tab on the frame is broken, then u'd have to get that welded back. You might also want have your frame checked out by a shop to see if it's bent. I'm sorta in the same boat as you with a crash just yesterday. Heal up quick and good luck getting her back together!
