My first drag race

Well I am still kind of a newbie to bikes so I have been reluctant to drag race. Today it happened. I was riding with a friend of mine who has a Harley so we were just cruising around. We came to a red light and a really nice late model Mustang pulled along side of us. I really did not give much thought. The light turned green and he kind of jumped out in front of us. Then I thought, f'k it, I am going for it. He must have been watching me in his rearview mirror, I crotched down and then I heard his exhaust just start whaling. I opened the throttle in 1st gear, hoping not to do a wheelie, hit second and caught up to him. I looked over at him, (saw about 5 gauges along his dashboard) then looked ahead, I opened the throttle and redlined it. Once I hit third I completely blew him away. Man what a feeling. We approached traffic so we just messed around and at the next light we went separate ways after giving the thumbs up to each other. I looked back and could barely make out the headlight on my friend’s Harley. :laughingr In case you are wondering, I ride a stock 05 GSXR 750. Thanks for listening because the people I know that don't ride, just wouldn't understand.

haha yea that is fun, just be safe though if you were in a busy area. that could turn out pretty nasty for you and others. But glad to hear it turned out alright, and there was certainly no doubt you were going to beat him. Have fun and keep it safe man.

People just don't understand what these bikes are capable of :headshake I had the sorta the same thing happen on my 600. Camaro pulled up and his girl and friends were egging him on.. telling him he could take me. So he took off I didn't even bother to down shift, I just dialed the throttle and passed him like he was standing still. I slowed down and looked at the people in the car, they weren't saying a word, just kinda looking forward, even his girl was quiet. Must have been te first time she had her yap shut in a while, the driver was kinda embarrased. I think he was mostly shocked due to the fact his girl actually was quiet.

I pulled up next to a CLK320 on the I-90 express lanes across Lake Washington a couple of Sundays ago... only vehicles for the whole lake... the guy in the car looked over at me, leaned to his passenger and started to laugh... then punched it... I was about 8 car lengths ahead in a couple of seconds... started to slow when I hit 140 (we rolled from 65ish) and I couldn't even see his little grey coupe in my mirrors.. though I didn't look to hard. like the 215 horses could even pray to keep up.. funniest bit was I realized who the driver was later.. a fellow named John Curley, a relatively popular (still annoying) local tv personality.. http://www.theactorsgroup.com/details.php?id=10&name=John%20Curley&seltalent=Auctions

You should have slowed to see the expressions on their faces. It's the best jerry, the best I tell you

I really like being first at a stop light ... the darn thing goes green and then I nail it hard as I can (not wheelie hard), and then when I hit 60 mph (speed limit is 55), I back off and cruz about 60 mph. Looking in my rearview, they are way behind ... like way behind, and then i look at the expressions at they pass (most people here do about 10 to 15 mph over in VA).

I should have played with the guy, but it didn't even come to mind until I was way gone..
