the only thing that is the same is the ballance part, alot of dirt guys think they can just jump on a sport bike and be good but its not true, when you get your bike you should really take a training course and take your time getting to know the bike and building your skill, or you can take the hard road and crash alot and spend a ton of money fixin your bike

Its good you have some dirtbike experience. It will most likely make you a better rider in the long run if you keep your head on straight. but yea it's a pretty big jump from a dirtbike to a 600. Just take your time learning everything you can about your bike. Also make sure you do take some type of training course. Other then that just keep your head on straight (don't try and ride above your means), wear your gear and be safe!

The motorcycle training course I took gave riders like nighthawk 250s, so while a safety course is still good, it may not be enough to really prepare you for a 600 imo. I got comfortable with a friends r6 for a while before buying my 600.
Whatever you do just be prepared(proper gear, know your bike, etc) and you should be ok.
my 2 cents. gluck
