Where are the canyons?

I always here about the canyons where exactly are they located. I live in los angeles so can anyone tell me how to get there.

for Ojai, Take the 101 north to Ventura then hit 33 to Ojai. The first part will be straight and boring. Once you pass town, it's endless and amazing... the mountain part. If you want to skip the boring part, stay on the 101 until you get to 150. It's more fun/scenic, but doesn't quote have the beautiful pavement of 33.
