Motorcyclist dies in crash

Luis Garcia, 21, of Garden Grove was hit by car in Santa Ana, police say, and died from major head injuries. By DENISSE SALAZAR and KIMBERLY EDDS THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER SANTA ANA – A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident at the intersection of La Bonita and Westminster avenues Thursday night, authorities said. Luis Garcia of Garden Grove died at the scene from major head injuries suffered when he was knocked from his bike at about 6 p.m., said Cmdr. Stephen Colon of the Santa Ana Police Department. The initial report indicates that Garcia was eastbound on Westminster at the intersection of La Bonita when he was struck by a 2001 blue Acura sedan traveling west on Westminster that made a left turn onto La Bonita, Colon said. The 40-year-old driver of the Acura remained at the scene and was not injured. Traffic officers were at the intersection late into the night investigating the crash. When I got there yellow tarp was covering his body already. This happened approx. 1 mile away from my house. :headshake
