I knew AT&T wouldn't be able to keep the hold to it. Kids are way too smart and have way too much time on their hands these days.

yeah and if he was smart he wouldn't have told people how to do it. I would have just put the instructions up for sale on ebay and retired. exaaaactly. but in the interview, this kid said he didn't want to make any money from this. :hmmm:
sssssshhhhhhheeeeeiiittttttt. Hayes 08-25-2007, 07:50 PM I'd have charged a typical shop rate of $75/hour and had people send me their phones and money order/cc/check to unlock their phones...coulda been a millionaire in a few years:thumbup: M_Easy 08-25-2007, 07:53 PM I'd have charged a typical shop rate of $75/hour and had people send me their phones and money order/cc/check to unlock their phones...coulda been a millionaire in a few years:thumbup:
nah, the hype won't last that long. they'll be on the third, fourth iphone by that time. and they'll eventually release a software-only unlock. this kid would need to make a quick killing and call it a day. eXoDuS_72 08-26-2007, 08:32 AM Screw AT&T and T-mobil they both suck ballz... their signal sucks and i totally agree:infrandom
on a side note...smart kid. Even if he told us how he did it i doubt we would understand...and hes only 17. question.com 08-26-2007, 09:04 AM i read that yesterday. takes a lot of work. ill wait till an easier way comes out (i havent messed with the iphone, but ill give it a test drive).
ive always used PPC's, so i dont know how ill deal with apple as a phone question.com 08-26-2007, 09:05 AM ohh and the iphone wont be released on another network for a few years. apple and at&t have a 2 year contract. i know its being released on tmo in europe. eXoDuS_72 08-26-2007, 01:07 PM i like them but they cost what? like 500 bucks? i can think of alot better ways to spend that much money...like gas...and beer.:bounce GSXR Chris 08-26-2007, 01:10 PM yeah and if he was smart he wouldn't have told people how to do it. if he tried to make money from hacking an iphone, couldn't he get sued by Apple?:headscrat splymale 08-26-2007, 02:26 PM That's pretty cool and all but if he had the money to buy an iphone and didnt even have at&t at the time, then what hell is he talking about "T-Mobile cancelation fees are outrageous." He just spent at least $500 on a phone he had to hack to be able to use. And he couldve at least dressed up a little for TV, looks like he was playing football in that shirt. hayabusaallineed 08-26-2007, 05:49 PM their signal sucks and i totally agree:infrandom

The kid is 17. He got a 350Z and 3- 8gb iphones in exchange for his. I would say that's a job well done for a 17 year old with "no life." So what if he is passionate about tinkering with electronics, I'm sure you are passionate about bikes but somehow he has no life. He didn't hack the phone all on his own, he gives credit to a few other people, so its not like he has some severe and unhealthy case of being anti-social. eristic 08-27-2007, 08:49 AM To much money, and who cares about unlocking a phone.....some nerd with more time than he knows what to do with......
The technological know-how it takes to accomplish something like that is obviously beyond your scope of understanding. Unlocking that phone will probably give him more opportunities in life than you could ever dream of having. eristic 08-27-2007, 08:52 AM That's pretty cool and all but if he had the money to buy an iphone and didnt even have at&t at the time, then what hell is he talking about "T-Mobile cancelation fees are outrageous." He meant his family didn't want to cancel their T-Mobile service to switch over to AT&T just to be able to use the iPhone. I agree, he could have dressed nicer for TV, but hey, the kid is 17, so we'll cut him some slack for not knowing better  gixxerrookie 08-27-2007, 09:11 AM That is crazy!!!! hepek16 08-27-2007, 11:10 AM I dont think he will be making that much money in Europe, because some kid in Macedonia had already unlocked this phone and is using it with local network!!! I think its very safe to say that he will be trying to make money off of his finding!!!:arsenal :laughingr :arsenal CSX 08-27-2007, 08:38 PM The kid is 17. I bet 99% of this board couldn't figure out the inner workings of something as technologically advanced as the iPhone (I know I sure can't, and I'm in the third year of my electrical engineering degree), and for an amateur without a huge budget, who's 17 no less, to be able to figure something like that out is pretty amazing, I'm sure there are at least a few big companies our there that could appreciate a mind like that, and will pay big bucks for it too. eXoDuS_72 08-27-2007, 11:15 PM lol watch him end up working for the FBI as soon as he turns legal...and i agree with alot of things said about how smart u really have to be to figure it out but now he has brains..and a 350  on a side note....
Would u trade your 20-35k car for a $500 phone? and erm...3 more phones? maybe i'm missing something but what can u do with 3 phones thats u cant do with one?:headscrat eXoDuS_72 08-27-2007, 11:19 PM http://www.ls2.com/forums/images/smilies/werd.gif
