Sac Area Riders - Ride to the Bay 9/2 or 9/3

It's Labor Day Weekend! and if you're free, we're planning a ride to the bay across the Golden Gate so we can ride up Scenic Highway 1 I'm still planning a route and as well the day - lets hear it for what day or either if either is good... ~tesh (p.s. -if you're in the area, we're riding 8/30, to old sac / hwy 160 just for a spin to show some ppl the town - pm or call if you'd like to ride with)

If you're planning on riding into the City and North up the Golden Gate, how do you plan on getting there? You do know the Bay Bridge is closed labor day weekend, right? Traffic is going to be a ZOO in the City.

Personally, when I go for a ride up the PCH, I like to take I-80 to 37 at Vallejo, which cuts over to 101, avoiding the City and the $$ Golden Gate toll booth. You can go South and pick up Highway 1 past Sausalito, or North and pick it up at Highway 116 at Petaluma. Some of the nicest riding on Highway 1 is actually North of Stinson, all the way up to Highway 20 at Fort Bragg. Highway 128 at Albion is a nice way to get in, or out as well.

bay bridge will be closed....not sure bout other bridges though. you should try highway 35...nice ride.

I'm in Tesh, part of the reason he is trying to make the GG bridge is because I have never been to the bridge and want to do the dumb tourist thing.

I'm ten minutes from hwy 1. I'd like to go, but I have kids all weekend, and I'm working on my bike. If you guys come over this way, you need to check out skaggs springs road by lake sonoma out of healdsburg. Best riding around here. Lot less cagers than hwy 1. I get stuck behind a couple of r.v.'s every time I hit the coast on a weekend. A holiday weekend will be worse. It takes all the fun out of a ride going slow.

Here's the proposed plan for getting to the bay - we'll eat at/near Stonestown Galleria (just a few streets from the ocean) When: Meet/Greet Off Hwy 5 / Laguna Blvd. Exit (@ the Chevron on the right at the end of th exit) - gas up and leave by 8:30. Rough Directions: Hwy 5 South to 120, 120 west to 80 SF, exit to 37 towards the Golden Gate. 101/1 into the city (south) and the Galleria is on the Right. After stopping at the galleria, we'll plan the rest of our route> (Fort Bragg?, just a hwy 1 ride?
