Friday, August 31, 2007 1:37 PM PDT PORTLAND (AP) — For some drivers, breaking the speed limit is just not enough. They have to smash it. The Oregon State Police cited 437 motorists for driving 100 mph or more in 2006, an increase of more than 15 percent from the year before. The increase happened even though a new state law had gone into effect that made driving 100 mph or more punishable by a mandatory minimum license suspension and a fine of $1,103, said Lt. Gregg Hastings, a state police spokesman. Advertisement One day last year, Senior Trooper Ryan Niehus was watching for speeders on U.S. 97 north of Klamath Falls. A Lincoln Town Car and two motorcycles zoomed by. One motorcyclist spotted the trooper and hit the brakes, but the other bike and the Lincoln raced on. Niehus eventually pulled over the motorcycle ridden by Rion Dillon of Klamath Falls, citing him for 128 mph in a 55 mph zone. Three days later, in the Portland area, a man on a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R1000 outran two state troopers on Interstate 205. The troopers, both on motorcycles, caught up with Max Mazur of Gresham the following day, telling him they estimated his speed at 150 mph. Mazur disagreed. He said he was doing 180 mph. The citations put Mazur and Dillon in rare company. They were among 21 drivers cited by state police last year for driver at least 120 mph. Only 10 drivers hit that mark in 2005. State troopers will be looking to stop these mega-speeders as they patrol highways over the Labor Day weekend. More than 60 motorists were killed from Washington to California during the last year’s 78-hour Labor Day weekend. Six of the deaths were in Oregon. Oregon State Police Superintendent Tim McLain has asked all available troopers to hit the highways this weekend. Besides speeders, troopers will be on the lookout for tailgaters, who, according to McLain, cause one out of every three crashes in Oregon. “Everybody seems to be in a hurry nowadays,” McLain said.

Not to laugh but, No I wasn't going 150 it was 180 :laughingr it is funny, but also shows the complete stupidity of admitting to a cop issuing you a ticket that you were going even faster then they imagined. his claim to bragging rights is gonna cost him plenty, and the rest of us riders out here are getting targeted because of nutsacks like that guy. i have been stopped four times in the last month just to check out that i was on the up and up legally, cause there has been a rash of incidents similar to that crap.

The 100 mph thing is just a mental barrier really. It is only 30 mph above the speed limit on most interstates. I'm not condoning speeding, and I usually don't, but seriously, they never whine about people going 55 on the interstate, which is even more dangerous than someone trying to go 85. Someone who is stubbornly going 55 causes a lot more congestion because eventually someone won't be able to get past him without having to slow down and wait behind him for a minute. Then people will start lining up behind him and he will keep on trucking at 55 like a jerk. But he'll never get pulled over... Enough ranting. For now. Chango

I could give a shit how fast people go on interstate highways as long as lanes are being used properly. I pass on the left and get outta the way of faster moving traffic when its open. The people doing 55 and thinking they are in the right in the left lane kills me. Even worse when you go and try to pass them and they speed up..................thats when I let them know how much they suck. Usually just pass with a look of like "are you serious:headscrat " but if they really make it hard for me to get around and there is no reason for it except douchebaggery, then I lose it. Who knows what happens next.

I live in Oregon... and that's why if I'm going to drive that fast I go to the Mt. Hood National forest. 70 miles of twisties from Estecada to Detroit Lake. The road is NOT patrolled by ANY police or state troopers. It's run by the Forest Rangers, about 3 of 'em, in trucks no less... who do NOT have radar guns and can only write you a ticket if you pass them with excessive speed, since they have no way of proving your actual speed. It's the best! Not to mention the hundreds of paved service roads going ALL over the National Forest besides the main road... if you live in Oregon, I urge you to check it out. If you need directions PM me.

The speed limit is grossly under posted and universally ignored. and the reason we get pulled over so often is because we look like aliens with big heads and tough exoskeletons that ride around on devices that look like space ships and travel at warp speed, well almost warp speed. and that scares people and yeah always tell the officer you were going about 50 maybe 55mph  what a retard

How did he even let them get that close to get his tag he should mount it under the seat and behind the tire that way you can run as much as you want.
