All I have here is 2 1/8th mile tracks! I will post what i run. I have a yosh bolt-on,tre,k&n,a15,16,and 17 toth front sprocket. I will probably try all of them! Does anybody here know what i should be running? I drag raced my 750 last year 2 times and won first place both times running extremely consistant 7.49's ,but i didnt have to worry about the front wheel coming up a whole lot.

mine is an 02 and every dyno spec sheet i have ever seen on the 1000's shows the 02 model running 9.8's in the quarter mile . I have compared several different articles and places and years and its the only year so far the 1000 has even been in the 9's . So maybee I will pull off some good times this weekend. I will post whatever I run so check it out saturday evening. I am running at newhope dragway you can go to www.newhopedragway.com and check out the track. I have been running cars for a while so if you look under the list of racers and click on my name Matt Flora you can see the two vehicles I used to run out there . I dont own either of them at this point but you might like checking out my sweet ricer i built.

I would enter if i were you its not a high pressure thing and you have to learn somehow. I say save the drinking until we are knocked out of the race. Or we can go drinking afterwards. Trust me you will love racing and you will feel comfortable and it wll be a blast. Its only 15 to race and 3 to watch and I owe you 7 dollars anyways. I would bring your family if I were you. My wife has been and she says its boring.

well I went out there this weekend and I started testing and tuning. I got a couple runs but my launch sucked hard! We got rained out so I never actually got a good run. I have drag raced bikes for a while now. The best run I got was a 7.2 at 109 mph ( that blows) I was however very very surprised at my friend rettilajoi who pots on here. It was his first time down the strip and he was pulling 7.6 at 96 mph on his 600! I thought he was going to smoke my 1000 a couple of times. Man i am going to regret taking him to the races once he gets good! The only good thing that came out of it for me was I get to go for free this coming up weekend. So this post will have to last another week!

Well i raced again this weekend and I only actually drag raced down the track two times and i ran a 7.0 both times, but my launch sucked bad! I know I could get better times with practice but the owner of the track asked me to ridewheelies allthe way down the track to get the crowd going .So The rest of the night I rode wheelies. I did run an 8.0 On my back wheel crossing the finish. Now maybe he will let me test and tune for free to get the crowd going. I will keep you posted!

my friend had a 02 gixxer 750 on a 12" arm and ran a 6.30 in the 1/8th, he had a air shifter as well, and he was only 145lbs too though, i think he ran a 15 front and 45 rear on his

trixxergixxer
06-06-2005, 12:30 PM
yeah That is sweet! I could run alot better times if i were extended. I was shifting way before redline because the front wheel kept lifting up. i wouldnt be surprised to see high 5's with a wheelie bar and a little more experience.

strap it and put some links on. mine stock with a good good rider on it with it strapped ran 6.29 and he weighed 130lbs. lol wish i was like that but i am happy with my times to be 6'3" and 225

I am going to go again tonight if it doesnt rain. This will be my 3rd weekend I have raced. I am not actually staying for the racing part. I am just testing and tuning. its only 10.00 to t/t . I am running 7.0 in the 1/8 mile. I am really hoping to hit the 6's . My launch just really sucks I am actually going to be racing in about three hours. I will keep you all posted .You know what is really funny is I have invited a bunch of riders around here to go racing with me. They never give me a definite, but always say that they have nothing else to do, but they never show up. I think they are scared. I think that drag racing actually seperates the men from the boys! I can always depend on rettilajoi to show up! He is the only person that I ride with who is a member on this site. and i have told others about this site. So i can bluntly say to all of you posers who talk the race and wont go. STOP THE B/S GROW SOME BALLS QUIT YOUR LYEING BUCK UP AND PROVE YOUR POSER LITTLE ASSES! after all that i am going racing and i hope you will to.

ski s right about the clutch thing, maybe we should put on a slipper!!! yes we have invited alot of guys to the dragstrip, because they all brag...ooooh my bike is this my bike is that and they never come out ...i wish that guy with that fine ass girl on the r6 would come out so i could smoke his ass in front of the pretty girl!!!he said his r6 would power up in third yeah right!!! maybe just maybe it would bounce up a little with body english but not like he was saying and the 188 mile an hour he said, hell no!!!! i guess we have to go out and represent the gsxr family tonight...with all my mods i should spank him ive got a pretty good ideal how to get the power to the ground  ;) soooooooooooo :2hard that guy and his r6

06-11-2005, 07:47 AM
Actually you don't want a slipper clutch, thats for roadracing use. You would actually want a lockup clutch.

rettilajoie
06-11-2005, 07:15 PM
ohhhh

1000k3
06-13-2005, 06:30 AM
why would he want a lockup clutch???? a slipper clutch is for drag racing. you want him to have the clutch locked up when?????? the only way to leave on 1000 or any other bike other than a busa is to slip it, unless its extended and can use the high rpms and the drop it and it wont flip the fuck over. locking it up off the line is stupid, try it and see. your either going to be on your ass or your bike will be at the lights and you wont. slippers let the clutch be slipped and throttle pinned and then adjusted the amount of engaugement. :hmmm:

trixxergixxer
06-13-2005, 08:51 AM
I am not worried about all the lockup and slipper stuff at this point. I appreciate the info for the future though. i have put several clutches in my bikes and they are quick easy and very inexpensive. i did go out to the dragstrip and i ran a 6.876 at 110.28 mph with a reaction time of .519 and a sucky sixty foot of 1.814 i was booking at the end because my 594 ft time was a 6.468. i am getting a little better at my launch but it still sucks i will get into the mid 6's next friday. I am wheelieing of the line pretty good. I am going to lower the front end and raise the rear. I forgot to mention I weigh 210lbs I am also going to get my bike mapped real soon. I think she is running a little rich because she gets faster the hotter she is. i would just leave my bike running because i got my best times at about 210 degrees.I did say i thought she was in the sixes and I was right. I am really thinking about getting a wheelie bar so I can launch real hard and not have to slip the clutch so much. Right now i cant even give it all shes got in first or second gear right off the bat because she will stand straight up on me.

1000k3
06-13-2005, 03:57 PM
great job  sounds like your getting it. yeah lower the front and lower the rear dont raise it up as it will also make it more easy to wheelie, because once it gets past the front end weight and ride height it will be like just like not having the front end down, if you lower both then it changes it center line and its chance if wheeling up. I have mine set on the second whole in my lowering links, if you dont have any send the 30 bucks and get some along with a strap, and or lower the tripple trees on the forks. I only recomend this if your draging more than ridding on the street. i just strap mine and leave the trees with the stock 5mm of fork showing. just my two cents. good luck and just work on the launches since this is where the et will come from it will take a low 1.7x to get a 6.5x pass a low 1.80 would be good for about a 6.66 to 6.76 again good luck

I appreciate the info I will try that. My dog bones are in the center hole do you think I should lower it more? I am already an inch and a half down in the front on my triple clamp. I could probably go another inch or two.? any help is appreciated. Especially from someone who ran as low as times as you did. Mine is an 02 though. I am probably going to go again friday.

Rockin C Racing
06-14-2005, 10:52 AM
I wouldn't go any lower than what you already have in the triples. It may not hurt to lower the rear to the bottom hole. I know guys that do that for the track and then raise it back up for the street. They have it down where it only takes about 15 minutes to change. You definately should get a front strap on that thing. It will help. This past weekend I ran a best of 10.40 @ 135 mph with a 1.84 short time (1/4), my 1/8 was 6.65 @ 112 mph. I'm 6' @ 200 lbs + leathers.

1000k5
06-14-2005, 11:07 AM
on my 05 i have mine in the bottom hole ....and i just strap the front down...i have yet to lower my triple tree....but make sure u take up just about all the slack in the strap.....i leave at about 6500-7000 and slip the clutch enough to keep the front down but accel hard.....and try having the clutch all the way out by the 60'mark...also getting tucked and just bliping the throttle enough to shift without the clutch lever....it should pick it up..... Have u regeared it any? mine is down 1 on the front ...picked it up over a tenth....

Rockin C Racing
06-14-2005, 11:20 AM
No I haven't regeared yet on my K5. I lowered 15mm in the triple, strapped, and in the middle hole of the lowering links. I too just blip the throttle and don't use the clutch to up shift. I have the shift light set at 12,500, but if the front starts to come up on me, I short shift.

trixxergixxer
06-14-2005, 02:12 PM
mine is -1 and i blip shift too. Thats about exactly how I doit also.

1000k3
06-14-2005, 04:40 PM
puting the 02 on the last link will make it prob scrape the lower half of the rear fairings on take off on the track. so i would just becarefull should be fine unless your tracks like ours and is ruff at the end. but sounds like your on the right track.

trixxergixxer
06-16-2005, 07:04 AM
yeah our track is really smooth at the end. So you think I should lower just the rear or the whole bike? I wil probably go again tommorrow.

1000k3
06-16-2005, 06:44 PM
i would just strap the front as tight as you can and put the link on the second setting and tire psi around 25 to 30 depending on track and the take it to the last link and see if you can launch it harder and drop more 60 foot off . thats about all you can do other than learn to ride it alil more, and thats just practice ;)
