Angeles Crest Ride Sunday 9/30/07

I've never ridden the Angeles Crest, and was thinking about going this weekend. I like to keep a steady pace, but am NOT a "hard core" rider. I'm a morning person, and would like to leave around 7:00 Sunday, but am willing to negotiate a little. Here is my proposed route. Let me know if you'd like to go: Thanks, Ted tbrown68@yahoo.com

Crest is no joke if you have not been up there before .... I found out that it doesn't go all the way through to the 15. They are doing construction until late next year. Why is it 'no joke?'

I was there on 2 saturdays ago,with a group of about 15, and within the first 10 miles 3 bikes went down. Its really fast, 3-4th gear, 60-100+ in some places, and if you go down, you might just fall off the damn cliffs.

Its really fast, 3-4th gear, 60-100+ in some places, and if you go down, you might just fall off the damn cliffs. thats why I don't like riding any canyons where I can ride at a constant speed of 100mph. Screw that! If its a short straight that lets me hit 100mph, thats cool. But a lot of those turns at the crest are looooooong sweepers. And long sweepers aren't really fun of your going slow through them, pretty much feels like your going straight at that point.
