The only ones that have broken have been crashed into very large, immovable things like concrete walls. As long as you don't run into a concrete wall, you'll be fine. Chango

That is not true, I remember seing a post from someone who went 12 o'clock on a 600, paniced and hit the rear brake hard. He slammed down and the frame broke. I have a post here where I watched a guy low side an 06 1000, it flipped over a curb and hit the road, the frame snapped on the left side. although this is close to hitting a wall, LOL. I have had a couple get off's myself that were just as ruff and my 92 1100 survived them. I have 06 1000, I have ridden her hard and no problems yet. But I havent hit ANYTHING, lol. Eric

i think i know what tonyotis is talking about - a month (or a few) ago, there was a post here too about frames which were breaking at their (faulty) welds. that the major welds on the frame had barely penetrated through the aluminum and that they were prone to failure while riding (not doing anything but travelling in a straight line) this issues hasn't been brought up in quite some time, so i imagine it has faded away.... and i dont recall it being an issue on the 07-08's...

There will always be a faulty frame or weld once or twice a year. As far as doing wheelies and breaking frames that's your own fault, bikes are not built for stunting and if you use something other than what it's built to do then things happen. It's a freak thing when one breaks from normal riding.

The "frame issue" started with the 05's. One of the bigger incidents was when a racer in Colorado at PPIR leaned into turn one with his brand new 05 1000 and the frame just seperated at the main welds. Yes, he hit the wall, but the frame was seperated before he did. In fact he hit the wall because of it. Luckily not hurt bad. I was standing on the inside of turn one when it happened. It was a very strange thing gto see. Onetail.com had a piece on this story with pics of the welds. They were shit welds, but must have been the exception rather than the rule. Not sure if they still have the story on their site or not. All I know is my 06 is still in one piece, and I have been beating on her pretty hard at the track this year. Do I check the weld locations on my frame? Yes, I do. Better safe than sorry.

I have an 06 1k and it's been down about 4 times at the track and no broken frames where most claimed. Mine finally broke at the frame slider mounting areas. It survived 2 highspeed(100mph) tumble and 2 medium(65mph) speed lowsided. Don't worry about frame breaking. If you are in an accident, that bike's gonna get totaled either way.

If you dont do stunts you dont need to worry about it!
