I had one of these and it was pretty fast for the year. The price is right. If you put it on a little diet, do the normal stuff, exhaust, pc, and mine responded well to a throttle body sync. Mine would keep up with my friends stock 954.

Yea i just came off a 2003 sv650s and it is so different.. Power was awesome on the sv at low rpms and the gsxr is like a rocket past about 6k.. My gsxr has a Yoshi and k&n filter..what else would be good to add? would a power commander do much?

i thought 98 was the 1st year of fi it was for the 750, but u are going to have a hard time keepin up with the modern 1000cc bikes out there, your bike came stock with 115-120 HP, most 1000cc bikes today is makin 150 or so hp

What should i do to increase the power of my bike ? Increase your riding skills will enable you to "own" them without having bigger cc size.

but just say were straight away..not much i can do to increase...say the quater mile time .. You can pick up some accelaration with some proper gearing. I believe that -1\+2 would be about the max. Velocity stacks and get rid of the k&n and go with a bmc race and be sure to get a custom map done after all is done.

would a power commander do much? I had exhaust and filter done, and my bike ran pretty lean (not getting enough fuel for the air coming in) and the PCIII USB helped that. It really cleaned up how it ran when I installed mine. I think it really did alot for the bike. It runs so much smoother, and helped me at the strip as well. Expensive, but worth it.

NO you will not keep up unless you introduce another factor like Nitrous or turbo or more CC's.... Think about this by the time you buy all your accesories your thinking to get this bike to 1k bike status you could have purchased one. I been there done that
