Fleet Week - San Francisco - This Weekend

This is going to be my 1st year going. Anyone else going or been before? I hear the air show is sick, right over the water in the bay. My friend who lives down there has a huge sail boat. It's a blast. Fisherman's Wharf is crowded, and there are usually a couple of Navy ships open for tours (ships are boring, but high catwalks + short skirts makes for very nice viewing.) The Blue Angels are always cool, but a lot of the smaller aerial performers are even cooler, since they are lower and closer. You can get just as good of a view of the air shows and flybys from the Marin County side, and a lot less traffic. A good place to go is the Sausalito exit on 101, just before the Golden Gate bridge coming in from the north, and take Conzelman (road along the coastline that goes up the steep hill) and park in any turnout on the hill with a view over the bay. I might do that myself.

It goes into Sunday I believe. Check out that link I posted. There's a schedule of everything going on. My friend who lives down there said it's fun to walk across the golden gate in time for the huge battleships to parade into the bay. Some planes are doing the touch-and-go on the carriers as they come in. :arsenal

Dude! i want to go. I'm in for saturday or sunday, especialy if u already have arrangements for how and where + a friend with a boat. PM me in the morning or tonight. I'm around stockton or lodi, let me know whats up. I havent been to the air show since i last went at El Toro airbase in so'cal.

So who went? I rode to watch it from the Marin County side on Saturday. Holy crap that place was packed with parked cars. There were enough boats on the bay you could have walked from San Francisco to Oakland without getting your feet wet.
