jwindbigler 11-10-2007, 01:06 PM I just got a race body, and I repainted it myself with the auto paint. I followed the directions...but whenever gas touches it, the paint comes right off...so I just want someone to do it right ya know. Thanks guys.

I sprayed on 3 coats of it on there, just as the instructions told me to.
Can you spray another clear coat on top of the wax??

(858)-541-2080. Jeremy Toye is the owner, and he has hooked me up many times. It's a great shop to take your bike, as they are all racers there and really listen to what you want.
jwindbigler 11-13-2007, 07:24 PM Thanks appreciate it

did you use cheap paint. I just painted my bike and havent had any problems with gas eating the paint? I would suggest buying better paint and retrying it if you went cheap. I am in san diego too. If you want some help pm me.

playaconnect 12-14-2007, 03:21 PM Maan, Sorry Just saw the updates right now. Did you get that problem solved? So what did you end up doing? On that other question bout the clear over wax.. I havent done it myself but I would think if you clean it really good then its just another coat on the last coat of clear I would say. But at the shop they told me when you paint over a regular coat of "paint" to scuff it up first so the paint will stick but not sure if its the same for clear. cause thats sstuffs major sticky already and Also are you using clear from a spray can or spraying if from the gun? Cause from the can I know its thinner and you can spary more coats and I think from the gun its thicker (also depending on how thick you lay it) but still thicker then the can and too many coats and it will crack easier.

I used it on the tank, and it still runs right through the clear coat when I get 91 octane on it.

Thanks for the info. I still have it black. What I think that I am going to do is to have a professional respray it in an international orange, then offset it with some black stripes that are outlined in white. Thanks again.

Try MC Pro Design out of Escondido, they are very good and won't break your bank either. Team Yamaha uses them for all their painting on there bikes.
