Bridgestone owned MOTO GP this year. The other thing was that you basically has to have your tires picked before the race not knowing what the track conditions were going to be. Made it difficult to choose compounds. Most of the top 5 always had bridgestones. brire6 11-16-2007, 11:18 PM He is a pretty cool guy but kind of a dumb country boy when it comes to other cultures. mladin's bike is totally different.
mladin's bike= mustang you bought, suped up, and race.
rossi's bike= F1 car which you may never see in your life and will NEVER own
this year the GP bikes are down from 990cc to 800cc. AMA superbikes are 1000cc 16177 11-17-2007, 08:05 AM Isn't there off season testing or anything that goes on? There were parts from the documentary "The Doctor, The Tornado, and The Kentucky Kid", but this show actually went further and showed more detail into 2006 Valencia. Way to go MTV, you actually churned out a program worth watching!! BallHawk3 11-18-2007, 01:35 AM Garbage, just absolute garbage like anything else on MTV.
I'm not a Nicky Hayden fan, but it was absolutely garbage (not cause of Hayden) but cause of MTV. Hayden won the championship last year, duh, but it would have been much better if they did it on him last year or one on Rossi.
Actually, I take it back, even if they did it last year, it would still suck cause its MTV and they don't know how to make it. Hayden didn't do so well this year, actually I didn't even notice him this year. But even if someone is doing well or horrible, you can STILL make it interesting. I feel bad for Hayden, that show made him look like a fucking idiot, and another reason for people to watch and go, "stupid americans," or "stupid southerners."
What it should have been about was more of a "documentary" on MotoGP, but instead of doing something like Faster, you focus on the main character, Nicky Hayden, following him and showing his ups and downs, and struggles. He doesn't have to be the best or worst, but the guy you follow around to have a story. Hell you should be able to follow any guy and make it interesting, but not MTV. It was just plain stupid.
I was just bothered by the racing clips, garbage, not enough footage, horrible views, they hired some english sounding anouncer to read off lines and make it seem like the world revolved around Nicky. And like the first race this year, it was all Rossi vs Stoner! Rossi getting smoked on the straights, and his struggle, that was the show. They missed that. But they gotta make it seem like its Nicky vs the world. No, Nicky is just another player in the world of MotoGP. gon2fast 11-18-2007, 02:38 PM But they gotta make it seem like its Nicky vs the world. I'm gonna agree with you. The announcer made it look like the whole world focuses on Nicky Hayden. I like having an American in MotoGP but they made him look like an idiot from the south who just got a shot at the big time.
I would have much rather seen a documentery on the league. DesiRyderz 11-18-2007, 04:30 PM man i cant believe i missed it..i really wanted to watch it. are they going to show it again anytime soon? what do you expect, its just like any other reality show on tv these days. Basically take (whatever reality show people are watching right now) and throw a motorcycle in the background most of the time.
it's just another way to follow him around, poke fun at him once in a while, have him look like an idiot, laugh at his mishaps and give an "WOW" for overly dramatic events, that they happen to make it a much bigger deal than it really is. Genki 11-19-2007, 09:46 PM I was embarrassed to watch it. You figure someone that travels the world as much as him would be a little more cultured.

There has been winter testing going on at Valencia and just recently at Malaysia. On that note the new 2008 Honda is bigger and is suited for the larger Hayden as compared to the 2007 model. Hayden was the fastest rider at the Malaysia track and was 1 seconds faster then his race time there at Sepang and .65 seconds faster then the times set by the faster riders there during the race. Honda I think they realized that they FUCKED up last year by making a bike small to suit Pedrosa thinking they will get a back to back championship (Spanish team and a Spanish rider) they were close but close soes not win championships consistancy does, and they forgot that. I never once saw Pedrosas bike DNF due to a failure? but Haydens bike had on a couple occations! I find it ironic but this new faster times gives me hope that Hayden might be in the contengency to fight with the big boys again. Sorry for the long comments, but as a photographer this is what I have notoced at the tracks and is my opinion. God Bless and keep the wheels on the ground. Mr croom thank you for your intellegence. You notice the true life of what goes behind following a dream. All these shit talker have a regular 9-5 job goes home and watches baseball or football with guys that fight pitbulls, take steroids, ride motorcylces at 120 mph without fucking helmets and crashes. :laughingr Nah, I'm just a good ol' southern boy myself, with too much of a hillbilly accent, that likes ketchup on everything too. brire6 11-20-2007, 11:56 AM Personally I thought it was great, It was an american documentary about the american champion, If Italy did a documentary on Rossi's chamionship seasons I wouldnt whine about it. I think Nicky Hayden is a real cool dude. He wasnt constantly bitching that he was losing races due to bad tire choices or anything like that. He always admitted that he was going up against tough competitors, giving credit to everyone which is good sportsmanship. I thought it was very interesting finding out where the American chamion is from and knowing more about his racing background which is what it was suppose to be about. It wasnt suppose to be about all of moto gp which is why it was title The Kentucky Kid. So what is the point? He made a point what is your point? His point was that Nicky is in the spotlight. Doing something that most people can't do and by winning a championship made us look good even if he is just some ol' hick from Kentucky.
Evidently some of you missed the point. I only saw part of it but I thought they did a fairly decent job of showing some parts of his life after the championship. I have met every Hayden except Nicky and talked with Rose at length in April. They are some of the best people you will ever meet if you are lucky enough to do so. Before you slam someone for their accent or "culture" you should look in the mirror. He is just being himself and he is one of the most popular riders in motogp, not only with the fans but also among the other riders. mr.croom 11-27-2007, 06:32 AM           ookime 11-27-2007, 02:04 PM Zgixxer makes a good point. This was an attempt to put a friendly face on MotoGP for the US. We that follow the sport know and care who Rossi, Stoner, Pedrosa, and Freddie Frith are/were. This was a way to market the race series to the states... the masses that watch reality TV. That's the audience... we already knew the outcomes of those races.
I'm from Kentucky and I can't understand him sometimes. Knock him all you want... he is doing what most of us only dream of doing. He rides for a living. He isn't "cultured", fine. He didn't win any races this year, true. He "only" hit the podium three times in 2007. A case can even be made that Nicky didn't win as much as Rossi lost last year. Having said all that... he is a Moto GP racer and even if you don't like him... guys on sport bikes should respect the work, dedication, and speed any of those guys put out. He seems to put a good face on a sport that a lot of us follow. This was an opportunity for MotoGP to showcase an American Rider that won the championship.
even if he is just some ol' hick from Kentucky.
Yeah, even if.... BallHawk3 12-03-2007, 01:17 AM maybe its cause i'm from LA.
But I can't stand reality TV. It's a bunch of garbage. But I guess i'm a minority cause everyone seems to be so obsessed with all that shit on MTV, like stupid dating shows, i love new york, real world, the bachlor and whatever the hell they have it.
I'm pretty sure MTV recorded plenty of good video when following around nicky but most of it will never hit the screen. They'll edit it out to how it to how they please, keep it juicy. For example, the scene with him in the market, not knowing the language. I'm will to bet it went nothing like that, and MTV just edited it to make it seem like that, blow it out of portportion, so you can all laugh and giggle at how "stupid" hayden is.
If you think reality TV is actually "real" nowadays, well then, I feel sorry for you. A documentary isn't the same as reality TV.
Keep your reality TV. I'll pass. Kentucky Kid is no different to me than any of those dating shows or some celeb show like the newly weds. Its not about not liking hayden, or he's a hick, or didn't win any races or blah blah blah. Maybe if some of you would get off his nuts long enough to understand what i'm trying to say. This is not a hayden basing time, (more of a reality TV/MTV bashing from me). Hong3103 12-03-2007, 03:24 AM I completely agree with the whole MTV sucks ass. I haven't watched MTV for awhile now. I remember occasionally tuning into Real World when it was in Seattle (I'm from there) but most the stuff on their channel annoys the bejezus out of me. The Hills for example. My Gf loves that show, I can't stand it.
I don't mind the whole hick part of him as it is probably the reason he seems more down to Earth. For the most part I thought it was alright. It could've been better but MTV is trying to make this appeal to their main crowd. Not to us. Just my 2 cents though. ZgixxeR 12-03-2007, 08:45 AM maybe its cause i'm from LA.

I agree with you on those points. If it were a true documentary and not based on "reality" tv type shows then it would have been much better. I only saw part of it so I can't really form a true opinion. I don't watch reality tv either, I think of it like professional wrestling, it's all scripted to a certain extent. If another network would have produced it then it probably would have been a lot better.
My point was that it was only about Nicky and not motogp as a whole. It was focused at their target group, not at your typical roadracing fan. well you can't make a show about just Nicky Hayden. Why? Cause thats the same as making a snow on you and me. Whats so interesting about that? Nothing....whats so interesting about Nicky Hayden? He's in MOTOGP! You can't have nicky hayden without motogp, and you can't have motogp without nicky hayden.
He's obviously not that famous for people to be drawn to him so they'll want to see him everytime he takes a crap or farts. But right now, the show is pretty much a remake of the newly weds, all they've eadded was a motorcycle in the garage.
I really think the whole show is riding on the fact he's american, and he's from the south and talks funny and is living in europe most of the time. scott2t2 12-03-2007, 06:24 PM maybe its cause i'm from LA.

cause I constantly have to deal with actors/reality tv stars, and their producers, editors, and blah blah blah.
Everyone here knows how fake it is and how much garbage is on TV. Constantly get paparazzi rolling in handing out business cards.
