Limboavionic 08-24-2004, 08:39 PM Your story sounds very familiar. A few months ago my friend bought an 02 F4i. He had never ridden a motorcycle in his life so I test rode it, and ended up riding it home for him. The day after he bought it he finished his BRC. He took the bike to the street to pop his cherry. He kept stalling it. Finally after a half hour of going backwards  ...he drops the clutch. The bike jerks out from under him, and slams into the curb. It broke, not bent, broke the front wheel, and scraped up the left side. He had it two days and did around $800 in damage. He since got it fixed and is steadily improving.
xX Gsxr pimp Xx 08-25-2004, 06:03 AM damn that sux.. well atleast hes getting better ya know...
skibum91 08-25-2004, 08:52 AM yea, some of the newb stories you just can't help laughing at even though many of us have been there before.
xX Gsxr pimp Xx 08-25-2004, 09:00 AM so true...
freak_accident 09-06-2004, 06:31 AM ummmmmm...... has anyone ever herd of motorcycle saftey training... :laughingr But it would suck so much to drop it on both sides b4 ever gettin it out of the driveway. If it was me i would have takin it back and considered it as a sign... Good that he didnt give up though!
moto182003 09-06-2004, 09:51 AM My kickstand sank into my driveway and it fell on the left side (dirt driveway), my friend low sided it makin a left turn and he used to much front brake, then i had a stoppie gone bad and it fell on the left side...all with no frame sliders...
BayouGixxer 10-30-2004, 11:29 AM Hello all... Here is a true story that will just about make you cry... When I lived in Oklahoma City, My brother was working for a dealership (that will remain nameless) and I watched a guy buy a BRAND NEW ZX10..... put it in the back of his truck. He went to turn out of the parking lot and over the side of the truck it went..... he totaled it and never even threw a leg over it!!!!!! Now THAT is a bad day!!

Got2josh 11-01-2004, 06:57 PM Man, that's why the dealerships won't tie the bikes down for you, at least when I bought my bike. The guy was real good and rode it into the back of my dads truck for me and "strongly recomended" exactly how to tie it down, very good on his part, but he wouldn't touch the tie-downs just for the liability in case something happened.
By the way, I bet the guy used ROPE to keep the 10r in the back, always use the ratchet type things, they make them just for bike with rubber hooks and stuff to.
Got2josh 11-01-2004, 07:00 PM Oh, and my newbie story, I leaving my job at a car wash and was turning around, I went down the driveway a little bit, just coasting with the clutch in and was turning right, just next to a curb and didn't see the sand, the wheel started to slip so I let out the clutch some and gave it some gas but I had forgotten to put the bike in gear and down I went. Because it was a downhill I started rolling and completely forgot about the whole "put it in gear" part. It sucked to cause there were like 4 people at the vacs vacuming their cars.
Luckily they build katana's like tanks and nothing happened to it, just a little scratch on the right fairing.
jeepboyyj 12-14-2004, 05:11 PM The guy I baught my 750 from has to have the worst story. He baught (my) '02 750 used from a dealer with 4399 miles. Had never ridden anything in his life. Got it back to his appartment complex and decided to teach himself how to ride. Got moving in first and it started to bog a little, so he gave it more gas. Ended up slipping back and grabbed a handfull of throttle. Hit a parked truck in the complex. Shattered his left hand and has a rod in his left leg. Never had a chance to get insurance so the bike still had a clear title. I baught it for $3300, his title said 4399 and mine says 4400 miles, you know he took a huge loss. The damage to the bike consisted of a small dent in the frame just under the intake on left side, radiator, front rotors, left rearset, missing left side of the upper, no left side fairing, dented tank, and small rash elsewhere. $150 and the bike is now ridable with a new radiator & fan, rotors, and rearset (gotta love ebay). Just need all new body work and she'll be good as new!
skibum91 12-14-2004, 05:16 PM that had to be shitty for him, but good score for you!
jeepboyyj 12-14-2004, 07:00 PM Yeah he never even got to experience riding for real. It definatley played to my advantage though. I can't imagine trying to learn on a 750. I have friends that did it, they have also crashed numerious times. The power difference, compared to my sv, scared the crap outa me. I've ridden for 12 years (12 dirt, 1 road) so i knew how to control it but it still about made me crap my pants a few times!
skibum91 12-14-2004, 07:10 PM yea, that can definatly happen, now just try to imagine the jump from the 750 to the 1000 the same. haha
