are bikes getting uglier?

I know im gonna get heat for this, but in my humble opinion sport bikes are gettn uglier. I think my 01 is sexy as hell, but when i look at an 08 on the web i dont think the same. like they plateud around 03 and are declining. Maybe im wrong but i think my 01 is a million times better lookn then a new 1k. whats your opinion?

What do you mean...the Busa can't get any uglier, but then again Kawi did engineer the ZX14 which looks more like a Polaris jetski

I agree. The new bikes look aweful. I think the 600/750 looked best in '05. I do like the '01-6 1000's as well.

before i did anything to her. missing bar end, she must have gone down at low speed off a red light or sumthn. still, sexy as hell. cant wait for the spring, will pot pics of her done!

The older bikes just look alot meaner cause the size of the bikes and amount of plastic body on them. I know the newer bikes are lighter and hp higher and hp/weight ratio all makes the sport move foward but I agree in the sense that the older ones look meaner to me espec with big/tall riders. But as more and more newer bikes around we'll get used to um. One part I don like are tiny exhaust pipes or hidden pipes. I still like the mean look of nice fat can. Just looks to me again a meaner look. In fact I think unlike most out there that double pipes are allso meaner looking. Like the bussa; although some dont like the bike i think at least the pipe on both sides is mean looking. For years we allways try to get nice looking pipes/cans to show off and nowadays seems everyone wants them hidden. Zuk the only one still puttin big cans on the 1000 and not likin the stock ones but big aftermarkets looking good. Kaw/Yam/and Hon all hiding thier cans. I donno just looks like theese skinny things belong back in the 70's or 80's. // Anyway I wonder what we'll be looking like ten years from now. Cud you imagine noise ordinances forcin us to go down the street or hiway and be almost silent??:headshake not a pretty picture in my mind

I have to admit, there is something about the rear end of a 97-00 GSXR, but when i get the 07 750 i doubt ill be able to wipe the smile of my face for a while.

i dont like the look of the older bikes as much. i like the 06 - 08 the best

Actually, the lightest GSXRs to date were the 2001 models. They have gained weight with each redesign, sometimes just a few pounds, sometimes several pounds. Chango the 01 1k was 374 dry and the 05/06 is lighter at 365 dry but on the contrary the 07is heavier at 379 and/08 is 384// anyway you make a good point and I didnt realize they were all so close. I thought for sure the newer bikes had got much lighter but anyway they gonna have to have a wieght limit just to keep the bikes managable with all the crazy extra hp we puttin out. I cant imagine a 200 or more hp bike wieghing in at 300 lb's it just would be useless. Couldnt be practical and wouldnt stay on the ground. But I guess we'll see over the next 5 to 10 years where hp and wieght are going. In fact I believe we at a point now where as if we get anymore hp it's gonna have to start going up in wieght just to make the bike practical as i mentioned before. Thats just my .02

04 and 05 600 and 750's looks for sure. theres just too much body and bulk to the 03 and older bikes for them to look good, the huge headlight for starters and the tail section.

I have an '03 750, but think the newer bikes are more attractive. I like the minimalist plastic and particularly the streamlined tail section. That's the part of my bike I like the least and have been seriously considering tacking on a newer tail section. d

'04-'05 Gsxr's were the last year for the sexy "full" fairing sport bike. Im glad i got my '04 plus i like the rare orange/black colors The new bikes are nice but look like anorexic ponys, and tall riders like me look a little silly. Cant wait to see what '09 has in store.

I like the look of the 01 better got rid of mine earlier this year I have an 06 now but had them at the same time for 7 months. The 01 was even friendlier to ride still tryin to get used to my 06.

I think the the newer bikes are getting uglier and uglier some not all. Im not being biased because I have one but I think that the 04 05 model GSXR 600 is the better looking than the 06 and up models. I know I know alot of you are gonna talk crap, but i just dont like that they show alot of the engine. Thats really the only problem I have with it, well maybe the headlight as well it looks kinda whack. The new R6 and 600RR are very nice looking bikes,I would have buy one of those If I was in the market for a new bike. The Kawi 6 and GSXR 6 dont look as sexy. In my opinion, to each his own thats why baskin robins has 36 flavors. :headscrat LOL

I think that the 04 05 model GSXR 600 is the better looking than the 06 and up models. I know I know alot of you are gonna talk crap, but i just dont like that they show alot of the engine. I think bikes are not necessarily getting uglier... But they all look alike! Now, I find that, a gsx, r, cbr, zx are not that different... or so much closer then they were a while ago. And 1000 and 600 are almost un-diffenrenciable. Of course, on this forum we are all bike aficionados and we see big differences between current bikes but I miss the days when you had to choose between: HONDA Interceptor or Hurricane SUZUKI GSXR-750 (oil cooled) YAHAMA FZ750 (Genesis engine) KAYASAKI GPz (550, 750, 750 turbo, 1100) or Ninja900. DUCATI 916 (most beautiful bike ever... in my opinion... followed closely by the 1098 and Augusta MV F4. Now those were very different bikes.... Plus, a while ago, manufacturers were making more models and playing around with engine configuration...that did not fit in specific superport or cruiser category: RG500 Gamma, NSR400, GS1150, CBX650 Turbo, GPz Turbo, CBR1100XX, CB400, VFR500, Eliminator/ Magna / VMax, FJ1100, Ninja750, ZX12, RC45, VF1000R, TL1000, Faser, etc. I miss the greater diversity.

i would say suzuki makes a great looking bike (busa has improved a little) honda DID make a cool bike until they released this new retarded looking cbr 1k yamaha makes the sexiest 1k imo. i love the r1, r6 looks like an ant to me... kawi, their bikes are sweet looking (minus the spider faced zx14) i guess id put them in order like this, best to worst suzuki kawi yamaha honda ducati's and triumph still and has for a while looked amazing.

there are some bikes that are ugly straight up...i have to admit i like to pick specific years for bikes that are pretty. For instance i prefer the 06-07 gsxr600/750 s much more then say the early 00-03 gsxr's. Then again i like more modern bikes/cars then older ones. I respect the older ones for what they stand for but i think most of the newer stuff is much more pretty then the older stuff.

personally i like the 06 and 07's (600's and 750's) the best...and the 05 1000's look badass...but i think the 08's are poop. But i'll agree that the new yami's like badass...with the sharp edges...they just look fast as hell sitting still.
