+1
I want one. With the V design and high rev limit, this engine will not only give off high peak HP numbers, but it will also probably have a nasty torque curve all the way through. BBGSXR 12-09-2007, 05:23 PM Not sure you guys know this but the only I4's in MotoGP are the Kawi and Yamaha. Yes the Honda's, Ducati's, and even the Suzuki's are already V4's. So just because Stoner won on a V4, I don't see Kawi and Yamaha changing there engine programs for motogp for next year.
Although it would be nice to see Aprilia in GP, given there success in 250's and 125's. They should have built the engine to the 800cc reg's. Unless the are planning to run WSBK which would be hella cool also. graham0383 12-09-2007, 08:22 PM Not sure you guys know this but the only I4's in MotoGP are the Kawi and Yamaha. I had to look it up because the guy that was telling me about the new motor said it saw it on some tv show (dont know with one) and they said Aprilia made this motor to run in WSBK. I dont know if that is ture or not. But yes it would ne nice. Awesymoto 12-10-2007, 07:47 AM for those that could in theory actually use 210bhp. +1 for everyone else on their liter bikes getting lapped by talent.... then no. racing wise way cool though. agreed torque would be nice on a V over I but meh. untill v's are mainstream (hitting 750's and 600's) there won't be much of a difference in my mind. conrice 12-11-2007, 08:42 PM Not sure you guys know this but the only I4's in MotoGP are the Kawi and Yamaha. even if this motor was designed for motogp...the motor makes 40+ LESS hp then the honda's rc211v did. it couldnt have competed. if they were to shrink it 200cc, it would still probably be just as proportionately underpowered.
besides the public has had access to v4's for a while. the honda VFR is a v4. im sure there are many more. the reason that they're not predominant on the street is lack of reliability when you make them have insane amounts of power. I4's can make power and have reliability, so companies stick with them tantrumtwo 12-12-2007, 10:26 AM with 210 hp in wsb, even if it was a 800cc motor it would make at least 280 in motogp trim. the big problem for a small manuafacturer excluding duc, it's to much money 100 million + just for development. there last foray in gp didn't go so well tantrumtwo 12-12-2007, 10:30 AM also v4s can produce tremendous power but the complexity of the castings 2 heads 4 camshafts double everything. i have a vfr and the sound, there is nothing like it conrice 12-12-2007, 01:34 PM with 210 hp in wsb, even if it was a 800cc motor it would make at least 280 in motogp trim. the big problem for a small manuafacturer excluding duc, it's to much money 100 million + just for development. there last foray in gp didn't go so well
so wouldn't aprilia have to take this engine to production for WSBK? i mean, to qualify for superbike, dont you have to be a production motorcycle?
but to what you said, what's motogp trim? MotoGP is ALL prototype. There's nothing production about it. They tweak motors in AMA and WSBK, but motogp has to be completely different. and a 990cc V4 made 250 hp last year, so how would this engine make 280 at 800cc? k2gsxr1k 12-12-2007, 04:32 PM thats a sweet engine. the valve train is crazy. well to me it is Awesymoto 12-12-2007, 08:58 PM just a thought to chew on... alot of teams de-tune their engines in moto gp to prevent excess wheel spin. in the 500cc class bikes were making 180hp DE-tuned. thats more than our busa's now. Now days traction controll is allowing teams to put more hp in the engine, without creating balls out nuttieness for the riders. many riders will ride high in the rpm's with v4's in the twisties because the tourqe is more predictable and there is less a difference higher in the revs. tantrumtwo 12-18-2007, 09:19 PM what i mean is that for a production bike the engine is limited as to what they can do, as you said it starts with a production engine. now if thats the basic engine design is where a motogp bike motor starts. pneumatic valves big bang timing, thay can do pretty much anything they want. the duc stoner is riding spins at 16 17k? make 300hp or close. there are no limits except budget. that what makes these bikes so interesting. this is all f1 fare. the pneuamtics super oversquare motors multi maps. Farmer 12-23-2007, 06:53 AM I love over kill. Can't afford this one though. kill@cj 01-07-2008, 08:30 PM Hellz yeah. May sound like overkill but like the always say "build it and they will come." This motor is going to change everything we all know. Because of this competition all the heavy hitters will start stepping up to the plate even more so. I look foward to seeing what this hopefully spawns Suzuki to build and put into production.:bounce:bounce speedracer170 01-08-2008, 03:01 PM I can barly hold on to 135hp would be scared to try that one out | |
