Dallas/Ft. Worth area has a pretty sick bike seen. Thursday nights at Sonic in Dallas is crazy. Hundreds and hundreds of bikes for hours on end every single week without fail. Dallas Police Dept has often parked their big ass "mobile command center" bus/rig across the street piling up tickets, arrests, and impounding squids, stunters, and "dirty" bikes. You are right about the roads being flat in the area and you do have to go pretty far to find the twisties. However, there are 2 great tracks less than an hour for trackdays. Seems like everytime I go up to visit my friends in Dallas and we go out to Sonic on Thursday night, I see something that ceases to amaze me. Those guys up there don't judge their wheelie distance by city blocks, they judge them by how many zip codes they can ride it. Also, they have some really cool illegal street racing going on in the industrial areas (i'll just leave it at that). Don't show up being a squid or an obvious newbie or trash talking unless you can you got some serious skills. Try to find a small of group of mature acting riders to roll with, stay away from the guys out there trying to hook up with little "Suzy Whitebread" and the hoodrats (these will be the riders who just lean/sit on their bike with their helmets propped on top of their heads with their Icon skull jackets on).

Suzuki/Yamaha near 121 and 620 is pretty cool with gear and accessories. Cycle Gear shops are around. But there are some good places for performance upgrades. If you want motor or suspension work then you'll have to get ahold of Steve Upchurch with Motion Cycles (he builds some sickass motors). Steve can build you anything from mild topend work and cams to some crazy ass time bomb motors that will put out some serious horsepower. Steve is the go to guy for dyno tuning so keep that in mind. Jim Sabin at Sabin's Performance does nice dyno work as well. Piper Performance is an all around shop for dirt/street bikes tuning. Another suspension and motor builder that has an awsome reputation is Jim Cambora who owns/operates Raceworx at The Motorsports Ranch in Cresson, TX. People (and me) swear by his suspension skills.

I know all about plano. I just recently got a gsxr 600, and plano isn't really happening with the bike seen. Like most people said Dallas is where a lot of stuff goes down. I know of a few car meets where bikes always go. Irving is the place to be to go riding though. Lots of people cruise around there all the time on sport bikes. Like the other person said the sonic off northwest highway between 635 and jupiter on thursday nights is the best one I know of.

Don't waste your time going to Sonic. I went twice in 1999. I rode by there maybe 5-6 months ago...and they're doing the same thing, standing around trying to look cool. Check out texastrackdays, lstd, and ridesmart. I used to live in Plano. I have a few friends I rode with when I lived there, but I am about 45 minutes north now. I rarely ride the streets any more. Just waiting for my first td in March.

Me and about 20 or so other bikes meet up in Lewisville at Twin Peeks (121 & 35) every sunday at 6:00pm. We ride out around 7:30 for about a 2 hour ride. Its good times and anyone is more than welcome to come out and ride.

May be interested and could possibly show up with a few friends.

We usually make a huge circle around dallas....threw arlington and back down the tollway. Its mainly casual riding but we also ride with a stunt crew O.W.E. Yall should come out....a guy named Twitch is the cordinator of it and easy to spot cause he has a bandana on all the time. I will be missing the next 2 sunday's for being out of town.
